Support Group in NJ

I'd like to start a support group in NJ if anyone is interested. I'm in central northern NJ (Cranford) and if anyone is interested, I thought an easy place to meet would be at the Menlo Park Mall. There is plenty of seating in the food court and it's right off the Garden State Parkway (exit 131) and Route 1&9. I saw that some people here were from New Brunswick so I thought that would be a good central location.

If this locations doesn't work, let me know what you're thinking.

Also, if you could, write down which days usually work best for you. I find Sundays - midmorning to lunchtime are usually good for people, but if not, just tell me what days work or if evenings are better.

Once we get a few people who want to do it, we'll pick a date and meet, hopefully sooner than later. I'd love to have a meeting in August and then meet every two weeks or so if that sounds doable.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi, I live in NJ and sent you a friend request.

My $0.02: Menlo sounds like a good place to start. Right now, all days are open. Sunday midmorning to lunchtime would be fine up to and including Sep 2. Evenings would not be as good because of the dusk / nighttime driving.

I'd love to

Hi Ht888, Karen and Embird. HT888 and Embird- what are your names?

If Menlo sounds good to everyone we could meet on a Sunday at eleven in the food court by the Starbucks. I can make a little "EDS" sign and put it on the table so that we will recognize each other.

Why don't you all list Sunday dates that work for you. I am free next Sunday and the following Sunday and even the following Sunday. So you guys let me know what works for you. Once you've all responded, the day we all overlap, will be the day.

I'm good on Sunday 9/8 - my daughter is coming back from her summer trip and next 2 Sundays will not work for me. Any chance we can make it a little later, like 1pm? It's one hour drive to Menlo Park Mall for me and I'm NOT an early person. Thanks!

I haven't made any plans as I have been having ups and downs with the CRPS. So I am free any Sunday and yes my name is Karen.

Good: Aug 19, Aug 26, Sep 2
Bad: Sep 9 (sorry, school-year things are starting up)
Any time between 10 and 2 is fine.

I can try Sunday 9/2 to work, but can't promise.

Ernbird and HT888- you didn't tell me your names!

Anyway - does August 19th work for everyone?

Aug 19 is good. I prefer to trade names in private (Inspire.com friend-level) messages or in private email or in person. That's why I sent a Friend request :)

Hi, I second ErnBird - sent you a private message. I will not be here on August 19, so maybe next time.

I would prefer to meet when we are all available for the first time-can we check sats?

Hi. I would love to meet up also if it is on Sunday. Saturday's arent good for me because I have to work.

I can't make:
- 8/19 & 8/26 (I'm away, going to check Warm Mineral Springs in FL -- their water has 51 healing minerals and ALWAYS 87 degrees)
- 9/2 (my daughter comes back)

I'm good any Sunday thereafter.

Saturdays:
Good: Aug 18, Sep 1, Sep 15
Bad: Aug 25, Sep 8

I would prefer to wait until everyone is available also, but this can get confusing (my head is already spinning from all the dates)- but from looking at the dates, there is no Sunday that everyone is available in the next five weeks. BTW- if we're going to meet once a month, let's say, not everyone is going to make it every time, but eventually, we'll all meet. So it's fine. When we get together we can talk about a monthly meeting - like the second Sunday of every month.

So, since HT888 is a "maybe" for Sept. 2 and everyone else is available, let's go with that. Is noon ok?

Sun Sep 2, 12 noon, Yes :)

I would love to meet up with you too.

About a year ago, a few of us restarted a support group I NJ. Unfortunately it is hard to get everyone together because of our individual health issues, but it would be great to get everyone together. In the past we have met at either a park or someone's house.

Also, there is a closed group on facebook if you'd like to connect with more EDSers from NJ

Bo7128-

I put in a request for the FB group over a month ago, but no one has accepted me yet. I think the person who runs it is having health problems. That's why I came here and started a group here. I don't want to wait- I would love to start supporting each other ASAP.

We had one meeting at Starbucks, Moorestown, twenty minutes from Philly. I have lost the thread. It was a great meeting. I have not been able to get in touch with one member. There were three of us. And another member is responding to you. So I feel lost again. The north jersey group didn't respond to me either.i used to go to Menlo Park when I was a kid. Too far for me. I could travel about forty minutes. Perhaps we could combine. I could work around any day time. I am seeing a pain specialist. New doctor. I was telling him that I can't get any docs interested in EDS and the conference and he promised me that next year he will go. A first! The best places for geneticists around here are Baltimore and Boston. I have names in Baltimore. We all need help. let's see if we can pull this together. My name is Ronnie. Nice to meet you
