Fearing Forteo

0 Recommendations

I have just been diagnosed with advanced osteoporosis and have started taking daily Forteo shots. However I have also been vomiting every morning. My doctor is testing to see if I may have too much calcium in my blood. Until I get the results she said to discontinue the shots.

Forteo Osteoporosis

I don't recall anyone else on this web site mentioning vomiting from taking Forteo. I take my shots at night just before bedtime. Please let us know the results of your calcium level test. Michele

The results of my calcium level test were normal so I was told to continue the shots. For the last two days I have resumed the shots but have taken them after a meal instead of first thing in the morning. So far so good. No vomiting. No upset stomach.

My stomach was sore to the touch, not upset to vomit. My doctor told me to hold off on the calcium and start back in two weeks with half the dosage.

Weeone, did you look into a 2nd opinion for treatment?
I also have bad numbers (for osteo- diagnosed @2 months ago) and have had been researching alternative treatments (there are many studies and books out there that have patients reversing bone loss w/o drugs). It's scary to see (many at my physical therapist's office) folks getting so sick from the drugs. I am feeling stronger than ever doing the prescribed weight bearing, vit. D3 etc... and have added prunes (just google PRUNES AND BONEBUILDING- and also ALKALINE BALANCE DIET AND BONE BUILDING) and you can read some recent studies.
Of course many do go the route of meds - but I keep meeting folks who suffered terribly from the drugs -
I wish you all the best health.
BETTER BONES

Has anyone found information about women who completed Forteo a few years ago and their recent dexa scores?
