Back from trip to see family and dad in Illinois

Well, I have not been on a computer for about 2 weeks now. While I was visiting my dad he got his staples out and the next day his insicion split open. Its a opening 14cm long by 10cm wide by 10cm deep. He now has a wound care nurse come 3 days a week and they put this vacuum machine in the wound insicion that will help it heal and keep down infection. He already has a bit of infection in it. It has been a bit of a set back.

That sure is disappointing, not uncommon, but disappointing. But keep an eye on them because wounds like this can get out of control and become life threatening. If you think anything is going wrong be sure to get on them and make sure they are on top of this.

Sorry to hear about the setback. So many factors in healing and recuperation and so many places for things to occur to delay our complete recovery. Hoping for the best and a rapid resolution of this problem.

Yes the wound vac makes things a little more complicated, but they do the job when an infection shows up,,,I am sorry to hear this news, but bumps in the road are not uncommon,,,we always pray they are small in nature and don't take too much time from recovery process.....take care, ginger

Oh no!!!!!!! My dad still has his staples in and he is having all kinds of complications. He has a blister in the wound that leaked for 2 weeks after the surgery. It finally stopped leaking yesterday. Also, his stoma bag keeps leaking. He has only had 1 dry day yesterday so far. Keep us posted on how your dad is doing. I hope he heals up soon.
