Deryl had a seizure on Sat. Dec 27th. I just knew this was the beginning of the end. He could not walk - spoke in single words - and so on. We had several rough days. He did not eat for 5 days, refused to take meds, etc.Not sure what happened - but on Thursday - Jan 1 he started coming around. Jan 2nd he slept all day - Woke up and wanted to go out to supper. He still cannot walk but his mind has come back to where he can communicate and eat.
Thank the lord for small blessings.
Not time to let go yet.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Deryl. Just a little set back maybe and has to be worked through. Very scary for sure, don't know what we have to face tomorrow. Count every precious minute and Thank the Lord for all the time we get here with family and friends.

Thinking of you and Deryl and praying for you both. Take it a day at a time and stay strong for both of you.
I can tell you are both fighters. That sounds like quite a turn around!

Well, it looks like we are on the down side again. I have been taking naps for 3 days so that I can give Deryl his pain meds every two hours. Does anyone know why the pain seems to intensify at night? Just finished changing the sheets and his bed clothes. He was really hot and sweating - normally his hands are arms are cool. It just tears my heart out to see him this way. Sometime when he is mouning I want to drop in a hole and disappear.

I know my best friend is in there somewhere - Just wish I could find him.

Well, things are quiet for a little while - think I will try to take a nap.

You're in a bad place right now - this is so tough watching our loved ones suffer. Do you have hospice care? Deryl shouldn't have any pain -

When you posted the other day about how much better he was doing, I thought this might happen. It is all part of the dying process. If you have hospice they should give you a little booklet about dying. It helps you to understand what's going on.

Your best friend is there and he knows you're there, although he may not be able to communicate this to you. Continue to love him and help him through this part of his journey. I know how difficult it is, believe me. I wish I could do something to make it better, but unfortunately we both know that can't happen.

Hugs to you and prayers for a pain-free day for Deryl.

Please make sure that you are taking care of yourself also during this time. I know that it is hard but you have a good place here and people that truly understand. I wish i could give you a big hard hug. I needed those more then anything. Take care, my prayers and thoughts are with you

Hugs to both you and Deryl. I hope that hospice is involved - if not, maybe you could contact them. Deryl should be in no pain. When my Daddy passed there was so much morphine left over it was unbelievable! The Hospice people will help both Deryl and you! Prayers are being said for you both.
