Hi I am Mike Rayl
I am new here too... I am a PAL. dx/03/99 onset/6/96
I have seemed to stabilized. I eat regular food, but i used to choke...
it seems to have stopped. I talk with a computer, a Franklin, language master... I still walk a little, a hundred feet or so each day, with a
walker and help...
I live in a nursing home, over 4 years now. They are capable of handling feeding tubes..
I need help, dressing, showering, in and out of bed... My hands have lost most of their function, i am typing this with one finger,(but i feel grateful for having what i have left).
When I came here I thought it was the beginning of the end of my life,
wrong, it was the beginning of a whole new life filled with love, peace, joy... happiness.
I have a lot, laptop computer with DSL, satellite tv with hbo, VCR/DVD player, an ipod. So i have all i need to be happy. In my quickee
electric wheelchair I go to starbucks and the mall, so im blessed...
I just wanted to say hi, and i am grateful for having found you all...

i take this approach also,and i always tell people to never ever give up hope,keep the faith,and keep on smiling....life is definitely good :) :) :)

I hope a lot of people read your post. Your are an inspiration! You can't change what is but you can learn to live with what can be. Just for the heck of it one day I did a Google search for ALS Sucks. What I found was a man named Rob on YouTube. I figured he was going to be an angry whiner. I could not have been more wrong. What an inspiration he has been to me. He has posted a series of short videos about his journey with ALS. He is/was a life coach and he is just mesmerizing to listen to. If anyone reading this gets a chance please check him out on YouTube. PALS and CALS alike, you can't help but come away with a new attitude.

Dear Mike,
You have found the secret to life on this planet. Being content and thankful for what we have is an amazingly powerful high, isn't it? Someone can be physically healthy and complaining all the time, or have ALS and living in peace and joy, and the second man will be living an abundant life.

Darlin count your blessing's because god has laid his hand upon your body my husband was 42 when he died and he lived only 19 months with this devil's disease. Take care and do smile and love with all your heart. I am trying to get Oprah Show to do a story on my Book because so many have no clue what this disease is most think it is a thing from the past extinct I am doing my best to fight for all diagnosed with A.L.S. Please if you would contact the Oprah Show and ask for a story to be done on this disease. Together we can make a difference. thank you and GOD BLESS Kathy Feagin Hale
