update on my tmjd

0 Recommendations

Hi everyone,
I am still fighting with the insurance for my tmjd. I have had an MRI- the most painful experience of my life so far. They used a jack to open my mouth! OUCH! I still cannot eat anything that needs to be chewed. I am trying to eat heart healthy and liquid or pureed and that is not easy. I tried to talk to a nutritionist from our insurance, (one called right after my heart attack), but the insurance people said it is only for cardiac rehab patients and not for jaw problems. I was mad. How can they just discriminate against the jaw? Any other joint with problems they would cover. But because it is my jaw, they won't cover it so I have to suffer. This has been going on since my jaw locked close in November. I am in constant pain and The MRI showed that the disc is out of place and the only treatment would be surgery. I have an appointment with a specialist in July, then the insurance will decide if he can treat me. I just want the pain to end. I JUST WANT TO SCREAM!!!!! There I just had to vent. I feel better already. Also if anyone has any heart healthy recipes that you don't have to chew, please share! I am bored with my daily diet.
Melanie

blessings and a ton of hugs!!

I think this is healthy -- I make protein shakes. First, in a blender, crush up some ice. Then a big scoop of protein powder, then a couple tablespoons of plain yogurt, then some fresh berries, and a little juice. Delicious and healthy.
I really am sorry for all you're going through. July is coming soon.
Kate.
