Wow, I’m new, and just read your “about me” info. Thank you for posting so much. It is a tremendous help to know there are others like me out there, and it’s not all in my head, that the doctors really do stink, and finding a good one is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I’ve only been diagnosed with cad, no HA (knock wood), but I have been struggling with the medical community since 1999. I’m 45 now, and seem to have to “age into” the tests I need. Even my insurance company wouldn’t cover tests because I had no risk factors and wasn’t “55 and male”.

I had actually seen a doc in my 20’s for chest pain, but was accused aggressively of “being on drugs”, so would wait for another 10 years before having the nerve to complain of that symptom again.

I have had more than one doctor tell me there’s nothing wrong with my heart, because of my age and gender. I had one fellow I had never met, walk into the room, chart in hand, not even opened, get literally nose to nose with me and say, “I can guarantee you right now, there is nothing wrong with your heart”.

Another male doctor told me that I “was too young and too female” to have a heart problem.

The most recent female cardiologist I was consulting with for the first time, told me that I was wasting my time and hers, there could be nothing wrong with a 40 something woman’s heart, it was probably “indigestion”, and I needed to s**t or get off the pot and I needed to just have open heart surgery done to “prove” there’s nothing wrong.

I was told by others along the way that it was a “chiropractic” problem, or GERD, or a psychiatric problem and Paxil would help.

Can these quacks be sued? Is there something we can do as a group?

Thanks again for putting your info out there to help others. I am sorry for all you went through, but you are a huge help!

A Heart
A Heart from DLH2511

I was so impressed by your strength and enthusiasm. I am fairly new to this heart stuff and you really made me feel like an idiot for whining about my problems after hearing yours. I would love to be one of your many friends and chat with you further.
