Well, the meds to block the pain were working...now the problem.
I was sitting in my chair, watching tv, my legs and arms started getting real heavy and everything started to go black, my heart rate went up, got really sick to my stomach, a bit of blurry vision! STOPPED TAKING THAT DRUG IN A HURRY!! It was not fun...a bit scary.
So it's back to having to deal with the pain. When I called doc parkman, he's out of town until 6/28, and his PA wasn't at her desk. No help there so I just quite taking them. Having a few withdrawal symptoms but nothing as bad as being on the pills themselves. Dizziness, nausea, headache, diarhhea...nothing I don't deal with anyway.
Lost 3 pounds in the last two weeks so I'm not happy about that. I wanna maintain so I can get this silly feeding tube out and maybe reduce some of the pain. I'm pretty sure that it's causing some of the pain because when you put any pressure on it, the pain increases.
Oh, well, just one more day in this wonderful world of gp.
On a more pleasant note...hope everyone has an enjoyable fourth of July!! Watch the lousy food intake and tell the naysayers to bugger off! You know what's best for your system.

Dizziness Pain Gastroparesis Vicodin Reglan

Dear margamouse,
I am sorry that you had such frightening reaction to the drug medication and that you are having trouble with losing weight. I certainly can understand this concern as it has been something I have struggled with ever since I was diagnosed with gastroparesis. Have you ever tried a supplement like Benecalorie (330 calories per 1.5 ounces) to help with the weight issue? I too can sympathize with wanting to get the tube out. After my transplant it looked like I might once be finally able to get rid of all my tubes, but for some reason I just could not gain enough for my doctors to be willing to take the risk of pulling them incase I needed them. I hope that you can eventually find a way to get to a healthy weight and can shout with delight the word "freedom" (from the tubes of course).

I hope too that you may have a good Fourth of July. I will be sure to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. May you have a better day today. Many, many hugs.

Warm regards,
Bobbiejo

How scary!!!! I would have stopped them too. Hopefully your doctor or someone there will get back to you.
I've added Benecalorie to my diet too.

Have a good Fourth!

What were they giving you for pain? I have had bad reactions to Cymbalta, reglan, and levbid.

I've been taking vicodin. Doesn't always work.
Reglan is bad!! Tried that.

Hi, Margamouse. How is it all going at this point? Marie

Hi Marie,
Everything is pretty much the same. The pain in constantly there but that's better than blacking out!!

I never thought I'd say it but I'm actually getting tired of eating candy, ice cream, etc. (Doctor suggested to help me gain the weight). I've always loved my junk food but now I'm just making myself eat it. What I would really love is a nice piece of chuck roast with mashed potatoes and gravy, brussel sprouts with butter. yum. But that would probably put me in pain for a few days so I'm not sure it would be worth it. The mashed potatoes are currently in my diet but those brussel sprouts would be a great addition ;-)
Turkey burgers aren't all that bad! So if we can actually go to someone's house for cookouts, we bring our own burgers (doesn't happen too often with the pain being as it is). But my husband eats them along with me which helps. We do make them at home too.
I'm hoping things take a turn for the better. I'd love to go visit our son!!!! We haven't been down there in almost 2 years because of me. He does come home once in a while but we used to see him at least once a month.
Enjoy your 4th!!
Margaret
