Could you possibly get Disability? I don't know your situation.
I have found that the world is more user friendly than you might think. For example, I take expensive medications and could not even afford the Medicare Part D Plan. I discovered that I could make things work by doing research online and finding that a lot of Pharmaceutical Companies give them for free if you make under a certain income.
Do you have a clinic which accepts Medicaid in your area? They usually have decent health care to offer. I would go online and google your problem or question. You never know what you might find.
Kate.

I went through this with my son before I got him on a Medicaid Waiver. In New York State there is something called "Child Health Plus." It extends to adults too. Contact your local congressman's office, and ask him/her what kind of state program there is for someone who needs health insurance. They usually go by a sliding scale. I make a decent salary, and full coverage health insurance and dental for my son was only going to cost $45 a month. If you need help, I will try and contact your congressman for you if you'd like me to try and get some numbers for you I will. I struggled for so long for my son, and I finally have him situated. He's only 14, but they do give low-cost health insurance for adults too.

Disability is not the answer!

What makes you so sure?

I work with people who are on disability and it is not a very good life. After rent is paid and food is bought, there isn't much left. Plus, it hurts your credit and job history.

Be prepared to wait a VERY long time if you try to get disability. Depending on your state it could take YEARS. I have multiple conditions and it took me over three years. Also you will get more disability depending on your work history. There is social security income for those who are just low income too. (there are two different types) I would check all your medicines, find out the manufacturer and check their websites for any help. Also you may want to see if there are any teaching hospitals in your area. Some of the outpatient clinics are more cost effective and are just as good if not better. Hope it helps1

Itzykitty is absolutely correct. After years of waiting you may still be denied disability payments. With the recession it appears that many I've spoken with say the process has come to a virtual stand-still. Even so, Social Security has an unwritten rule that all are denied the first go around. Then you have to refile and try, try again.
