Wow.
I didn't know Doug McClure was real. I thought he was a character on the Simpsons (haha)!

Susan

There is also a young Russian Olympic female skater, but can't remember her name. She is alive and well.

Susan, you are probably too young! McClure was actor in mostly Westerns...in at least one old series but can't remember whether it was Rawhide, or Big Valley or what!!!

Kimba,

Makes you wonder doesn't it? Why no outrage about LC from the entertainment industry or the survivors of these people? Why no or at the least few celebrity early treatment and need for funding awareness messages? You might think that at least the family and friends of all these people could have had some attention generating program in place by now.

Thank you for posting this.

George Harrison also died of non small cell lung cancer in 2001. I was surprised that it was not on the list. Again, this is a site on the net I pulled up not my own individual reasearch.
Thanks for the info!

Also Suzanne Pleshette (January 31, 1937 – January 19, 2008) died of lung cancer, although it was a lung infection that took her life, she did die with LC. Again, WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLES FRIENDS...I would be such a sponser of LC if I was a star and had connections. And all of those who have died that are not famous and all of those living with this disease need their voices so that more can be done for researching a cure and helping those with the disease no matter if they smoked or not!
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe Michael Landen had lung cancer too!

Michael Landon had pancreatic cancer.

George Harrison's cancer started off in his sinuses and then moved into his throat and more.

I believe Sen. Ted Kennedy's daughter (I think her name is Cara) also has cancer.

I believe Dana Reeves (Christopher Reeves wife) had LC, Paul Newman too, reportedly.

Its a shame that no one takes up this !

lost part of that message, what I meant to say was its a shame celebs dont take up the cause for LC. Unfortunately, its such a poor relation to other cancers and on a back burner and very lucrative for the pharmaceutical industry.

There is a way to manage this as a chronic illness it just needs research worldwide, as breast cancer as had, prognosis for BC has improved hugely!

Also Benny Parsons--racecar driver/tv announcer

Whoops--already on list! Sorry!

I was looking for a list of celebs and ran into yours. I agree if we could only form a committee and write letters to family members of celebs asking for their support. If we said they would not be singled out, but would be the voice of lung cancer together it might move things along. Do you know if anything has been done with this list?

How is your Mom?
