NOW IT IS IN MY BRAIN!!!!

4 Recommendations

I just had an MRI to my brain on Sunday, Wed. the doctor informs me that it is now in my brain, shows me the different spots, few of them, tells me I have between 3 and 6 months left. I have tried the BUDWIG diet, went on organic, stayed away from meats, fried foods, sugar, bread, walked about an hour everyday, trying to do my part in fighting this disease, but no, I had to be the big victim. F U ck it I will party now, more martinis than ever, the only problem, is no matter how sleepy I am, I cannot fall asleep. Sorry about my profanity, but this disease, makes you speak your mind FULLY. Love, Peace, and May god Bless you All.

hey, Johnny,
ok - it's time to speak my mind - get a new f'ing doctor!!!

no-one on earth has a clue how long you have left. no-one! newer studies indicate that LC is not a sudden occurrence thing - and that you've probably had it for years (like 7-10). and that some LC's send mets around early in their lifetimes. it just takes a while for the medical geniuses to find them. ok - I'm a little warmed up!!! there's lots they can do for brain mets - go find yourself a radiation oncologist and find out about cyberknife and gamma knife treatments - they apply radiation to the bad spots and literally nuke 'em. about 6 hour later, both you and they are done. poof.

now - let's have another discussion - I totally applaud your decision to live life like there's no tomorrow!!! keep it up, buddy!!!

meanwhile- go find another onc - one that deserves you!!!

hugs
Pat

Hi John, good for you for speaking your mind and swearing doesn't bother anyone I am sure. Good to let of steam!! I know about not sleeping, I have not slept properly for the past 6 months. Don't give up yet please, you are in shock understandably. I would try to get a second opinion if possible. I feel great sympathy for you and send you lots of love from England.

Johnny,

Patukit, boy that brings back memories, since I was at QP Naval Hospital a million years ago!
Yes, follow Pattys' advice, might have to go up to BeanTown BUT GO!

I got 3 big brain mets zapped by GK 8 years ago and haven't done a thing, same diet, same lifestyle etc etc etc.

Damn the Defiant!

I second, or third, Pat's advice! Get another doctor! I love my doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. I go there from Pennsylvania - no where is too far if we are talking about a life!

Live your life to the fullest - have fun EVERY day, laugh as much as you can, watch the silliest movies, look at all the beauty around you! It really is too bad that it takes the beast to come to us before we realize what is really important in life!

Erin

Patty knows her stuff. take her advice and screw the 3-6 month prognosis! Party on!!

Hi u Party like a rock star

Hey Johnny, you go and get a new doc. major cancer center is the best. Sometimes they can look at your test results over the computer and tell you if they can help you before you travel. Talks cheap do the most you can. Stay sober and take them to task. Don't let anyone tell you there is nothing more to try because as alot of us here know there is always something! - John

Johnny, get your behind up to Dana Farber. That's where my mom is being treated. If you're still up for a martini, you're up for some brain radiation or surgery. Please do not delay!

Johnny,
You are closer to Boston than a lot of people on here. The fact that your doctor went "God" on you and put a time stamp on your life is ridiculous. As everyone who has responded to you has said: second and third opinions are available for you and you're only an hour from the most advanced hospitals in the world. Go to this website and set up an appointment
http://dana-farber.org/
ALL wars can be fought and won, Johnny, if you have the right ammunition and attitude. We're all pulling for you.
~Frank

Hello,

Shake up a martini for yourself AFTER setting an appointment with another doctor and get ready to go to battle against the demon.

Keep us posted!

Peggy

Johnny,

I had four brain mets last May - yes, that's May 2007.
Monday, I had a follow-up brain MRI and there is not a spot of cancer in there! I was treated with Gamma Knife, so I'd find someone with that amazing machine to look at you. I'm still here a year and a half later, with no brain mets, even though it's in lots of other places. So, I agree with everyone else - f- that doctor!
Fight this disease!

Hey Party Boy, I don't know you but I'm betting that you have been luvin to party all your life. "Live Hard, Die Young"...OR...You can stick around and watch the world go round...The choice is yours !!!!...Me? So far they just keep patching me up and sending me out the door. It has been an easy ride for me so far. I do know that the day is comming when I will be looking at the same decision that you are having to make. I believe that my mind is set to have some fun on the way out. I just turned down the chemo.
My Dad always told me that when it comes right down to it and your life is hanging in the balance, you will what ever it takes to live...
I have always left my life up to the Big Boy Upstairs and he has always been right with me...Please keep posting. I am wanting to see how it goes....BIRDY

Praying for brighter days for you. It takes time to absorb the shock of what you were told. Once you have had time to think about it, do go and get a second opinion. IF and I am saying IF they should happen to agree, then enjoy your family to the fullest.
You are a strong soul. You have done your very best to do everything possible to beat this. You don't deserve this; no one does. God Bless and Take Care.

Well now, you've had enough time to drink some of those martinis since learning of the brain mets. Now, you need to take time to think about your next move. As most people here have suggested - find another Dr. Get a 2nd opinion.

Johnny - Have a few martinis and then get back in the ring and fight! Get another opinion and stay positive that you can win this fight. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts.
Sylvia

Don't give up!!!! I had 2 brain mets and had wbr and gamma knife in 8/07. Just had another mri and they are both gone. I agree, find a new doctor.

Dear Jhonny
I am nsclc stage 4 .My onco .never agreed to tell me how long I'm going to live.He always says that he helps God but he's never going to be in his place and decide how long someone is going to live.On the 9th of November I've finished my brain radiation. Here in Israel they say that tumors in the brain can be cured easily and I don't have to be worried about,so I'm not.My onco has learned radiation in Sloan Kettering and the treatments here are as good as in the States. So don't worry, look at the best part of life and as my American friends say;Live,Love,Laugh
Keep Smiling
Goldi from Israel

Hi Johnny, its ok to vent even if you use profanity. I agree get a second opinion, don't give up yet, take some of that anger and use it to get the right doctors with more positive attitudes.....

Barbara
stage 3b still trying to live, love and laugh..

Dear Johnny,
My husband had 14 very long and intense chemo treatments and 30 radiations also, all for sclc. After all that, he had some lesions in the brain and then had 14 radiations to the brain. That cleared up and now there is a quarter size nodule on the adrenal gland and we're waiting to see if radiation will be the solution. DON'T GIVE UP!!!!! You MUST go to other doctors and get yourself opinions until you realize there probably IS more that can be done to extend your life. Your fight is just what you need to combat this nasty disease. KEEP ON TRUCKIN'. Lots of luck, let us all know what you've decided. Enjoy your martinis and try to ignore the stupid short prognosis of your life span. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and God bless you.

A man David Bailey who writes inspirational songs about cancer, has one song that tells of a doctor he saw who tells him he has very little time left...the doctor shows him the CAT scan where it is "right there in black and white" David goes on to sing that what the doctor doesn't realize is that he sees in COLOR!!! Look at things in color, JonnyH! Check out his site...PattyK's sister, http://www.davidmbailey.com
