Hi everyone! I completed treatment for stage 3a nsclc on May 13. Mine was inoperable and I participated in a study at UNC that used Carbo/ Taxol/ Avastin for 2 rounds, 3 weeks apart. Then I had restaging at week 6 and all tumors had shrunk (1 in left lung and 3 lymph nodes involved. In week 7 I started weekly chemo (same drugs, lower doses) and daily radiation for the next 7.5 weeks. I also took Tarceva 4 days a week for the last 7 weeks. My first CT is scheduled for July 7th.
When I saw my oncologist last week for a followup, he told me I would most likely be a good candidate for the START trial using the vaccine Stimuvax, This of course will be dependent on the outcome of my CT, but if there is no evidence of disease or stable disease, I would be eligible. This is a one where 2 out of 3 get the real thing and the other gets the placebo. Has anyone tried this and if so, what is your experience? Any input would be welcome!
By the way, what is the I- something test I have heard referenced on this board. It sounds like a pathology report but would like to know more about it.
