My Best Friend

0 Recommendations

My cousin, who was my best friend, just passed a month ago from ALS. It was a difficult four years, although out of it all, came positive experiences and lots of love. We created a lifetime of cherished moments. She had told me that this disease seems to bring out all the good and positive characteristics people have that are not usually displayed. I see it in this forum. She was a fighter and never gave up hope. ALS took her body, but never took her spirit.

You are totally right. ALS does bring people together and that is what we showing in our documentary about a singer/songwriter/comidienne Carla Zilbersmith, who is dying from ALS. Our film, a musical comedy about dying, is meant to not only raise awareness of this dreadful disease that anyone can get, but also to show how a person best deals with such a personal tragedy. Carla faces her own extinction with wit, wisdom, courage, music and love. For a sneak peek of the film, go to www.leavethemlaughingfilm.com. We hope to have the documentary done by mid September.

That sounds fantastic!! Glad to see a play handling it with humor. Best wishes and success for everyone involved!

Keeping a sense of humor is the only way to go as attitude is the only thing left someone with ALS has any control over. Sad but true! Thanks for your good wishes. Feel free to sign up for our newsletter so I can keep you posted. The film will take the audience on an unforgettable emotional roller coaster ride, from tears to laughter and through every emotion in-between. Carla, our film subject, is the most inspiring person I have ever met. You can check her out on her blog www.carlamuses.blogspot.com. Best wishes!
