Do you feel the pacemaker pace?

0 Recommendations

I have felt a twinge occasionally, in the the exact same place each time. I think it feels like when they were testing the pacemaker in the hospital. (But I was on drugs then!) Just wondering if you can really feel it. Yesterday I picked up something waaaay to heavy- just didn't stop to think, and I felt lousy the rest of the day. Plus I was sore on the left side then. Also, I felt that twinge over a dozen times over the course of the evening. Any thoughts on that?

Hi. Yes you may feel the device pacing at times. If the device thinks the heart maybe beating too fast will pace and will pace the heart out of danger or if not may correct the situation. Been there. No heavy lifting! Take care.

Hello, this is my first post but here it goes. I've had a pacemaker since i was 7 Now I'm 36. I have noticed with my last two replacements that i do feel it pace from time to time but never in my chest. Its like a baby kicking right below my ribcage. I usually find that if it switch positions it will let up. It's a bit distracting at first but will become just a small irritant after you get used to it being there occasionally. Hope that helps a little.

HI, This is my first post as well. I most definately feel mine pace....When in the hospital I can tell the staff when it starts and stops pacing without looking at the monitor. It has gone on for hours. Its a creepy itchy worms running around feeling to me and it can keep me awake. I am also bothered by blocks of PVC's that I just hate but oh well......I'm very prone to pericarditis and these things increase when it is coming on.....I don't know if I am just more sensitive to the feelings or if this is "normal" .....I have amysterious pain below my ribcage and under it but i think it's CPR related from last August...CW

Hi, Harmonyj,

I feel mine also but a bit differently. Mine "kicks in", so to speak, to let me know that whatever I am doing isn't the best thing for me. It makes me cough a bit and then I just try to slow down or calm down or do something to settle it out. It does not happen frequently and is not bothersome, just a bit disconcerting. I appreciate the "heads up" from it notifying me to take a chill pill!! The worst it ever "stabbed" me, so to speak, was when I was VERY upset about my Dad being sick last fall. He just passed away two months ago and my pm got me through the initial difficulties of that heartbreak just fine. Anyway.......not to fret. I think what is happening to you is quite normal.
Be blessed,
Patty

Hi: For many, many months after I got my ICD I could feel the pacing since it was a new feeling but not so much now, guess I am used to the feeling - as it paces my heart 98+% of the time. I can feel the pacing more when the ICD is pacing to slow my heart down, I get thumped (that is exactly what it feels like - a thump from inside my chest.

I do not feel any pacing with my device, maybe I am just lucky.

Yes, I feel my ICD do SOMETHING! I would describe it as "purring". I haven't felt anything stronger than that. It is reminding me that it is doing it's job! IF it EVER does more, I'll probably seek medical attention!
I expect to feel a little, I guess, simply due to the fact that I must have it in there for some reason!

Take care of yourself!
God bless................

I went to the dr yesterday and they tested the device (mine is a pacemaker/defib). I was told the lower chamber part is working 100% of the time. Tech increased heart beating. I could feel my heart pounding in my throat. Did it for longer than before. I felt worn out after it was over. Dr wants to increase the pacemaker to optium level in a few weeks. This could be interesting.......
During the day, I usually don't feel the device working.
