New problems with ICD

0 Recommendations

Hi - When I was found to have ICD three years ago, it was a total fluke. I went in to have an EKG for an upcoming back surgery and it was abnormal. Before I could have surgery, I had to be evaluated by a cardiologist who suggested an echo. I was found to have a 20-25% EF, but I had no symptoms whatsoever. After being put on Coreg and my dose increased every week until I was at 50 mg (started at 2.5 mg), I was able to undergo by back surgery. I have been fine since and my EF in March of 2009 was a 40%, but recently I started noticing stabbing chest pains and shortness of breath. I have been to my local doctor (I live in a very small town), but have not been to my cardiologist. The local physician did an EKG and cardiac enzymes, which he said were "the norm" for me. Just would like to know if anyone has any advice or knowledge about this continuing chest pain. Any help would be appreciated. My best wishes to all of you!
