I was told I had cataracts when I was in my late 20âs I am 33 now. I went to the eye doctor because they got noticeably bigger and was affecting my daily life. The doc said they are small and does not want to take them out until they get bigger. Hmmâ¦ok. Well the day after my eyes were dilated I started having chest pain. My husband had to take me to the emergency room a few times over the next few days. I was given nitroglycerin both time which took my pain away within seconds. I was given pain meds by my regular doctor and placed on a medical leave from work for a few weeks. I had all kinds of test on my heart which came back normal. My chest pains caused shortness of breath, pain in my left arm (like it was going to sleep) pain in my neck that shot up to my chin. These pains were a hard dull achy pain like I have never felt before. I was placed on cholesterol medication due to high cholesterol. WHAT I was 145lb 5â8â. Over the next few weeks I lost 13lbs and it just kept coming off. I did not know what was going on. I kept going back to my doc and they basically said I have to live with this. So, I changed doctors. It was the best thing I could have done. My new doctor listened to me. I was so scared I got on the internet and started searching for my symptoms. I was not having a heart attack but I was having a problem with my heart. I came across information regarding âcoronary vasospasmâ. ALL of the symptoms match what I was going through. FINALLY I had a diagnosis but it was a self diagnosis. My doc did not get upset and dismiss my online research, she looked at the info I had and told me I am on medication that should help me if this was my diagnosis. I was still in pain with extreme fatigue. She sent me to a different cardiologist. Who knew I would end up meeting him before my scheduled appointment. I ended up in the hospital again, this time I was admitted because I started having fainting spells. Within 2 weeks I have 4 fainting spells. All the test stated my heart was ok but did not explain my chest pain that resembled a heart attack. I saw my cardiologist while I was in the hospital and he stated everything looked ok and I could cancel my appointment. He was in and out of my room so quick I did not have time to ask questions. I went to my appointment with all of my research in a yellow envelop. He seem to be a cool guy and I just had a feeling about him. I brought my medical history and test results from other hospitals and such. He looked at everything and said you have coronary vasospasm before I could even say anything. I let out this big gasp and said thatâs what I thought. I was prepared to go in there and fight for a diagnosis because I was not sure that myself diagnosis was correct or not. Since I have been on my heart medication I have not had a spasm and I feel great except for the headaches I get from my meds.
