WomenHeart Spokeswomen?

0 Recommendations

One of your fellow Spokes women saved My life. I really am on a mission to find her and thank her. Her name is Wanda and she was on The Jane Pauley show that was taped in 2004.
I think I would like to follow in her footsteps and help others any ideas? Love and Happiness Debbie Ann

Hi Debbie Ann and welcome to this site. I'm sure Wanda would be thrilled to learn of the impact her words had on you. Perhaps if you contact the WomenHeart office - mail@womenheart.org - they could pass on your comments directly to Wanda and perhaps even help to find her for you, assuming that she attended one of the Mayo Clinic Symposium events prior to appearing on TV in '04.

And speaking of which.... you might be interested in applying to attend the 8th annual Mayo Clinic Science & Leadership Symposium next October. You can apply online at www.womenheart.org starting in the summertime, I think. Mayo grads commit to volunteering 24 hours back in their home communities to help raise awareness of women's heart disease issues - and it sounds like you are already keen to do that!

I was lucky enough to be picked to attend this year's Mayo Clinic event in Minnesota and it is an absolutely incredible and life-altering experience. I learned SO MUCH and came home inspired, informed - and exhausted!

Good luck to you - and keep us posted!
XOXOXO

Hi DebstarNY,

I responded to your post about Wanda last week, but I must not have posted it correctly.

I was responding to let you know that if you are referring to Wanda Cook, I have sad news that she passed away this year. The story of Wanda's wonderful contributions during her life was on the WomenHeart web site. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting her at the 2004 WomenHeart/Mayo Symposium. She touched many hearts and will be always remembered.

She would be happy to know how much she helped you and others through her advocacy.

The Wanda on the show was only in her 30's it was not Wanda Cook. I have come across Wanda's name many times. I am sorry for your loss and the heart world. I will keep looking.
Thanks

DebstarNY: I looked in my WomenHeart directory this morning and there is a possibility: Wanda Tswago, WomenHeart Class of 2003. She looks to be the right age. She is in New Jersey. Does that sound right? If it does, then e-mail me or reply to this posting and I can get you more info. AlaskaGirl
