Update...on my PVC's

0 Recommendations

Hello all,

I had to get on here today to tell you this. Quick overview first:
6-7 months ago I started having terrible chest pains with multiple PVC's. Was in the ER several times. They insisted that there was nothing wrong and it's all "normal". After extreme testing (ecg's, stress echo, blood tests, heart cath) it all came back with the same result, "normal". Well, I'm here to tell you, it sure doesn't feel normal when you can't get your heart back on rhythm.
Fast forward to now:
I went to the Dr due to terrible migraines. I had one that lasted 3 days. I get in the room and this time it was a good visit. I told him that my jaw was still hurting and asked if he would check my ears. He did, and they were clear. He then procedes to do the normal routine checking. He found that I have TMJ. My dang jaw is popping, he told me to get a mouth piece to sleep with. He perscribed me a daily dose of Verapimil (for the migraines). OMG...since I've been taking that my headaches are gone and so are the PVC's. I feel wonderful...sleepy all the time, but wonderful. My kiddos are back on baseball schedule...busy everynight. Now, I don't know if the meds made me feel better or being back at the ball field made me better. But I really hope it's the meds because baseball only lasts 8 weeks.
Finally, I am almost all the way back to "ME". It's crazy though because I have more then one problem and I was thinking that all of these problems was one concern. But turns out that my jaw hurts because of TMJ, my chest hurt because of PVC's, my back hurt because I sit at a desk all day long and I have to be busy for all of this to not bother me.

Thanks to all for listening,
Michele

Anxiety Pain Stress Verapamil

Please let me assure you that PVCs are not "nothing."
8 years ago I was admitted to ICU with "supposed heart pain." 3 of the top cardiologists in a large heart specialty clinic saw my continual PVCs and said "it's nothing--everyone has those." Well, trijimini (3 PVCs in a row regularly on a regular basis--they don't stop) turns out to be a little more than "nothing." Even if you are having 2 PVCs in a row regularly and continually, that's something. Turns out that PVCs ended up being my "secret sign" that something was wrong; had 2 stents 10 days later as they did an angio to "humor me." Still, 4 stents and an ICD later, PVCs in a regular pattern (trijimini) or doubles signal trouble for me. So don't let this slide if it keeps going. In fact, if you mention "trijimini" to your dr., he might take a closer look. Yes, you are too busy to mess with all these problems. I also had, have bad migraines. Sometimes, it just takes you and a really good doc listening to find the right track for you.
God bless.

Michelle,

Fabulous you are getting migraine relief via Verapamil and TMJ mouth brace....This will free you up to focus on the heart rhythm antics and learn what sets them off and what you can do for them.

You needed a break. Happy to hear you found one!

cheers, Jaynie

Dear Tater,

This is fabulous news. I'm so glad your heart has calmed down.

However, TMJ is no laughing matter, either. You definitely need to be checked out by an oral surgeon to see if you are grinding your teeth, or if you have some sort of misalignment of your jaw. And you should probably also be taking some sort of anxiety relaxant and/or antidepressant since both PVCs and TMJ can be caused by some form of underlying anxiety disorder.

Have you ever heard of Marianne Williamson, Author/Minister/"A Course in Miracles", etc. I used to massage her, including for TMJ, when she was the minister at Reniassance Unity Church in Warren, MI. Massage is great for any number of health/stress issues, particularly relaxation, but she claimed it also definitely helped her TMJ--to the point of a downright "Miracle." I also massage another woman friend for TMJ, and all I can tell you is she keeps coming back for more. If you can afford it you may wish to try it.

Hope you have fun with your sons and the opening of a new baseball season. By the time it's all over, you will probably need a good massage anyway :--)

May the Blessings Be!

I have heard that a good massage will work wonders. I try to go once a year to rid myself of the nasty knots in my back & neck. And it's usually right after baseball season. This year might be different though. We got great news yesterday...my 11 yr old's team is trying out for the little league world series. That's going to be awesome!! And in May his team is going to be on ESPN...Wow!!! I am looking forward to a massage after that stress...lol. I will take your advice and see my dentist. He has never mentioned before of any breakdown on my teeth from grinding. But you never know now...from all the stress of my PVC's maybe I am now.

Thank you and God bless,

Michele

Have a good summer with your baseball boys, Tater. Sounds like a lot of fun!

May the Blessings Be!

P. S. Tater:

There are specific TMJ massage techniques. Usually it requires that a separate week end clinical course be taken to learn it (and certification), in addition to general therapeutic massage certification. Be sure when you hard off for your spa treatment you specifically request someone who knows how to work around your jaw.

However, if you search the Net, you may get lucky and find a video that will teach you--or someone else you have handy--how to do it.

Sherrie

Thank you for the insight!! I will look into it for sure.

did the verapamil get rid of your PVC's

I have had multiple PVCs, have taken many drugs because of them, even a beta blocker which sloooowed me down horribly. My son in law hearing of my most recent distress when the Ethomozine stopped being manufactured suggested magnesium. I take 2 slow mag per day and though I still have PVCs they are not as chest pounding and much of the time I don't have any.

PVCs area terrible. Hope you can get some help,

Trissie
