After conversations with previous Symposium attendees, I am finding that this sounds like more of a slacks or business casual type of event, than jeans and sweaters.

I am so glad to have found this out. As women, we hate to be under dresses and so I wanted to share this information.

So, this DOES NOT MEAN high heels and suits and the focus is still comfort, but probably a bit more serious than 5 days of jeans and sweaters.

We will be given an itinerary and have previous knowledge of excersize time, so that should not be a problem. We will know what to wear when.

So there is one more slant on the topic and obviously you should ask your "Big Sister" to give you some input. But I just wanted to share what I have concluded.

Getting so excited about this experience and meeting 59 more heart sisters I already love.

Just think, one month from now we will be home again...exhausted...inspired...educated and empowered!
Love and peace,
Stacey

How does one get to go to this event. I read about it coming this summer, and is this the session that is in the midwest...?

I have found a huge need for an a chapter out here in the San Francisco Bay Area and would like to start the process of putting one together.

I plan to contact WomenHeart, but would like any suggestions you may have.

You sound excited, and I would like some of that to pass on.

Thanks.

Hi Kardia,
The Symposium happens once a year and you must make application to WomenHeart and be selected to attend.
Please check the WomenHeart web-site for information and if you feel you would like to attend, plan to make application for next October.
HOWEVER
If you feel your community is lacking resources or support you might consider starting a support group in your area, if you feel you have the energy and health to do so. You can pull wonderful info from many sites such as WomenHeart, American Heart Association and The Mayo Clinic to share with folks in your group.
I hold my groups at the local library and it cost me nothing. We also meet at the park when the weather is mild and have dicussions and then take a walk together.
Please contact WomenHeart directly and talk to them, they are always so helpful and encouraging. I would love to answer any questions I can too, so please reach out if you need anything that I can help with.
Much Love,
Stacey

I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad you put this up. I had no idea what to pack and I hate being under dressed as well. I can't wait to meet eveyone.

I'm also getting very excited. Doing all of my reading and studying to be prepared! It was exciting to receive the books in the mail the other day!!

I understand there is a "dressy" dinner on one of the nights, as well.......going shopping..........

I think there's a group picture after the dressy dinner, and I'm trying to find a red dress to wear, you know, the whole "Go Red for Women" thing. :)

-Laura

I saw quite a few jeans/sweaters etc at the Symposium last year, as well as some sweat pants, etc. So don't be afraid to take some dress-down comfortable clothes. And yes, one dress up dinner! Think RED! (but not necessary as not all were in red)

I'm so excited for all of you to be going and know you are going to come home with wonderful new information, new friends, and new hope!

God Bless!
Lynn
