Taurine Capsules for Spasms and H/BP?

0 Recommendations

Hi. I went to a holistic medical dr today for my h/bp, dysautonomia, fibro, coronary spasms, etc.

She has me starting with 2 capsules daily of 1,000mg each.

She also has me on magneDerm Transdermal magnesium, and iron chelate and something called ultra inflamX which is a medical food.

I'm more concerned about the Taurine.

Is it safe???? How much is too much? Can you take it if you have a heart condition? I do have PVCs PACs, Tachycardia, high b/p and such.

She's an MD so I hope she knows what she's doing.

She wants me to eliminate sugars and gluten from my diet which I need since I'm very much underweight.

Any insight on Taurine (just Taurine it doesn't say L-Taurine) would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Rene

Hi Rene, you started me digging around for info, there is plenty out there so I've included a link. I'm going to look some more but going on what I've read so far I think I may be getting some!

Benefit of Taurine in myocardial infarction

As a non-toxic endogenous antioxidant, the semi-essential amino acid taurine is a potential attenuator of oxidative damage such as that produced by ischaemia-reperfusion injury. Ischaemia-reperfusion injury is a well established if paradoxical phenomenon whereby ischaemic tissue, doomed to necrosis if it is not reperfused, is actually further damaged by oxidative attack when perfusion is restored. There is consistent experimental evidence of an important role of taurine in ischaemia-reperfusion injury, with a clinical role emerging in human trials of taurine administered prior to coronary artery bypass grafting and heart valve surgery.

Hi Lidia,

I did read the site, thank you! Just wondering if it interfers with other meds. I only take a small dose of klonopin and not sure what other meds I'll need in the future.

I was just a bit concerned about reactions, etc.

Thanks for the response.

Rene

This site has a drug interaction checker which may be useful.

Thanks, Lidia! Seems you're an early bird too! I did check that site. I guess I'll swallow another taurine today and see what happens!

Take care.
