Stress has been known as a risk factor for quite some time now. It was one of my biggest ones. As the article states -- exercise and medication can go only so far. Our lives and stress and attitude really leave their marks on our hearts, and those are ours to deal with.

Think of how our hearts race when we are angry or upset about something. You can actually feel the difference in the way it beats. Being stressed out over a situation out of your control is another. It doesn't matter whether it is a family situation, work, a neighbour's behaviour or your own anxiety over your heart-health.

They all add up and the overall stress can do more damage. There are many new ways to manage the stress levels in our lives according the article. Slow deep breathing is certainly one. Thinking outside of yourself is another. Attitude helps a great deal. There is a scripture quote that I use constantly.

"This is the day that the Lord has made.
I will rejoice and be glad in it"

Obviously it means to take each day and live it to our best ability. Only we know what that is.
Be thankful for each day.
A joyful attitude goes a long way to relax a person and ease stress. And finally
It takes an act of our will to be glad and rejoice in the middle of the termoil that surrounds us every.
And yes, it is as complicated and as simple as it looks. It takes constantly monitoring ourselves and picking our battles carefully and loveingly and reminding ourselves that we choose to let go of the stress of a situation, we can't alway leave the situation, but we can choose not to carry the stress.

I'm going to stop now before I start rambling. I hope you can understand what I wrote and that it makes sense. I know it is not easy. But it is definitly worth working in our lives.

This was great. I'm going to call my insurance company and see if they will cover any stress management stuff. I'm getting better at managing my stress and keeping the pain down, but only as long as I'm in a controlled environment, i.e., my living room. Any where I can't just sit and chill, and that causes even the slightest of social stress, and I feel it instantly in my heart. Sex does it too. I can feel it in my heart the instant I think I might get lucky!
