Still Searching for Help with Prinzmetal's Angina

Would the imdur and metoprolol (actually she wants me to do toprol xl) work? I'm shaking with fear and I'm by myself so don't know what to do. Do I seek out yet another cardio?

This is so frustrating. Oh, she did mention that I could wear a monitor while on the toprol to see if anything shows, but would spasms show up on a holter?

Thank you so much for listening. I feel so terribly lost.

Hello Renee-No need to fear. Those medications sound appropriate. I am on Imdur and have been over two years. The Metoprolol I had to stop taking as it made me extremely tired. You need to try each drug to see what will work for you. Personally, I take my meds around 10PM each night so if there are any side effects, I sleep right thru it. I still have side effects during the day but I believe not as bad had I taken all my pills after breakfast for example. I have been on a Holter in the past and it is no big deal. If you do have any rhythum issues, it will show up which is a good thing and you can be treated. With Prinzmetal, you need to try whatever is recommended to see what works for you. It's taken years and my doc and I are still working on what works best for me. I have never had any blockages, stints, etc. My three MI's all came from Severe Prinzmetal and I spasm regularly. The Imdur helps me along with the other drugs I am on. Drugs lose their punch with me after awhile and I have to move to another. Sounds like you have a competant doctor. Best of luck to you!
