Sleep Study Results

0 Recommendations

I got the results of my sleep study. I have a little bit of apnea when I sleep on my back. But nothing that needs any treatment. The biggest thing he discovered...I snore!! Well, my family could have told him that. So, he has concluded that the little bit of sleep apnea I have did not cause the heart problems.

Great news for you! And, you helped me...I keep putting off the sleep study cause I do not want to have to wear the CPAC...seems everyone I talked to that had the study ended up with the CPAC. So, you restored my faith in going ahead and scheduling the sleep study...was so glad to hear someone can get an answer that they do not need the machine and sleep apnea did not cause the heart problems. I truly think I will get the same answer as you...I snore sometimes. Thanks for sharing...you put a smile on my face!

Did he mention that if you sew a tennis ball into the back of your PJs, you won't sleep on your back? It also helps with snoring, because most snoring occurs when a person is sleeping on their back.

What????? hahhahaaaa I love never knowing what I'm going to read on this site. It just occurred to me that this might work really well with velcro rather than sewing. THen again.....getting 'velcroed' in the middle of the night might not be considered thrilling by your partner if the ball comes unstuck : )

Have you tried the "Breathe Right"nasal strips? I heard that they really help with snoring.

I have a sleep study scheduled for October 20th. I am definitely not looking forward to it. I had one done in 2005 and at that time had no sleep apnea; just chronic insomnia and restless body.
But doctor wants to do another study since I wake up at night and early morning having difficulty breathing. And then I lay in bed for a long time having a heck of a time getting a breath through.
I don't snore, not over weight (120 pounds-5.3" tall).

I sure hope I don't have to wear that mask. I hear that it is difficult to keep on if you have a small face and nose and toss and turn all night....
But I guess I will worry about that after the study.

I've heard about the tennis ball thing. But I rarely sleep on my back, so it is not an issue. After I broke my leg in 2002, I got so used to waking up and moving, that I don't move in my sleep. I sleep for about 2-4 hours in one position. Wake up and move. Strange. As far as having difficulty breathing. I had the same symptoms and it turned out to be congestive heart failure. Along with asthma problems.

Dear Sisters,

You put the ball into a sock and then pin the sock to the back of your pajamas.

May the Blessings Be!

Sherrie
