Side effects of Effiant

I have taken the required medications for about 1 week and now I am breaking out with hives and itching uncontrollable. Went to family doc, got a shot, tried benadryl pills and lotions nothing is taking it away. Scared cause I was told I could die if I stop the Effiant medication, also cause so many have stated the plavix is not much better. Is this true??

I have been taking Effient since October but I haven't noticed any side effects from it. There is Plavix and I believe Coumidin as options. Have you talked to your doctor about it?

I just started Effient myself this past Monday after having breathing issues from Brillinta. My doctor said Effient is a "cousin" of Plavix. I cannot take Plavix, the itching it caused was so bad I scratched until I bled. I am really hoping Effient will not start to make me itch, because all I have left then is Coumadin.

It sounds weird, but I'd rather live with the shallow breathing and constant yawning from Brillinta, than the itching from Plavix. The constant itch is just unbearable and I don't believe there is any help for it, it seems to be a "nerve" type itching as opposed to a skin problem. Ask your doctor about Brillinta.

I was on Effient for three months and begged to be taken off of it. Turns out it was slowly (very slowly) bringing me into a depressive state of mind. A week off Effient and on Plavix and it was like a light was switched on. I was back to being myself, and more positive. I'm having issues with Plavix (muscle weakness, thinning hair, mild acne) but it's better than the Effient.

I had heard so many terrible stories about Plavix that I was petrified of trying it. Turns out that for me, it's better than Effient.

Find out what works for you. I almost had to bully my physician at first. Now she understands. I didn't give up and neither should you!

I had two stents put in and while in the hospital they placed me on Plavix. The Plavix did not work for me so they put me on Effient. I was on Effient for almost a year when I started to have terrible side effects including the major, internal bleeding. Now I am on Brilanta. I was told these are the only three availble so if this doesn't work.. then what?

I think best article side effects of effient is: Product side effects: effient side effects
Of course there are a lot of articles about this drug, but this is one of the best.

I was on Plavix for a year and a half with no side effects...except some small amount of rectal bleeding ( had 4 stents) Cardio Recommended stopping it....I was scared to death to stop it...but I did......that was three years ago......no adverse consequences.....however I recently had 2 stents placed in my leg....and Dr. put me back on Plavix...5 days later broke out with many hives...told to change to Brillinta.....that was fine for 4 months......then hives broke out with that drug! Dr. Told me I could stop taking the Brillinta after three months for leg stents.....now I am facing another leg stent ( 90 percent blockage in one artery) will have to be on one anti coag or the other....Effient is not an option for me, they don't advise using that particular drug after my age.....oh we'll usually do what we have to....and we pray a lot!
