Redness in vein removal site from trpl by-pass 8 years ago

My 87 yr Mom woke up this morning with a lot of redness around the vein removal site on her left thigh. ?Triple by pass was 8 years ago. No swelling, pain or itchiness.

While getting her ready for bed last night I noticed a little pinkness and ask her if it itched or she had scratched during the date. No, nothing at all.

I've been looking online with out success. Called her doc and left word with his nurse. May not hear back until Monday with that crew. Any ideas? I just hate something new cropping up on Friday. Thanks!

8 years out that is completely unrelated to the surgery. She may have gotten a bug bite she was unaware of. If it is over a bony area she might have a minor pressure sore from lying or sitting on it for an extended period. It could be an infection of some type. I'd say keep an eye on it and if over the weekend she starts feeling sick (malaise, nausea, fever, that kind of thing) or if the redness spreads or gets a lot of swelling, go to ER. If not and it's still red Monday see her regular doctor.
