Need some advice..

I've experienced over the past 3 weeks, major dizziness, nausea, and pain in my chest sometimes, and my arm getting numb. I've started to have some swelling in my lower body also. I went to my primary care doctor, he did an EKG, and 'two parts were abnormal', he didn't specify what. I called the nurse back today to get an explaination with no results. I have and 2 D Echo set up in 2 weeks, but the way i'm feeling today, I may have to go to the ER? Any advice or comments feel free to leave them. Thanks

Hi Cathy,
I don't want to scare you, but when I had those symptoms and waited on stress/echo and then another two weeks for results, I actually had three blocked arteries and ended up with a triple bypass. The surgeon told my family I'd not have lived another month. My advice would be to go to the ER. Allie

I agree with Allie 100%. I think it is only due to your age and being female that your doctor is letting you wait 2 more weeks for more testing after an abnormal EKG. I had similar symptoms each time I had a blockage and demanded each cath that found those blockages. I HAD to demand those caths because I passed all their tests and no one believed I had heart disease. I listened to the signals my body was sending me - the result? First stent age 39 (98% blockage of LAD), 2nd at 40 (80% blockage behind first stent), triple bypass surgery followed 18 days later by a heart attack at age 41. Listen to what your body is telling you -

but please please go the E.R.I thought I was fine and
had similar sxs but thank God I went to the hospital and got there on time !!! I had a stent put in and had 99%blockage in my heart.they did blood work,xrays
and found a grey area and did a cardiac cath,So please find out every thing!!!

Thanks for your advice, I'm still having symptoms now. I'm on the phone trying to contact a cardiologist to see me today or at least get some advice. The ER here is pretty lousy, that is the only reason I'm reluctant to go. Something has to be one ASAP, the pain in my arm is getting more severe, although my dizziness is some better today. Thanks for caring ladies!!

I agree with everyone else. Get to the ER. That's probably what the cardiologist will tell you as well. He/she can't do the procedures that you might need in the office. I waited 24 hours after my symptoms. I probably could have avoided a heart attack if I had listened to my body better.

Iagree they cant do the procedures any where else but the E.R.I would hope that the ER there would get you in right away with your sxs.!!! I pray you go and have some one with you. With my experience ,Im so glad I did! I got there in time where I didnt have a heart attack.I idid have a cardiac cath and they found 99% blockage and put a stent in my artery,but I didnt
feel any pain.I felt some uncomfort in my leg after
doing the cath but it wasnt really painful .I just wanted to let you know what I went through so you can feel hopefully better about going. Please take care,Kim

I went to the Dr. today and have been scheduled for a CT of my heart to check the calcium scoring, tons of bloodwork, another ekg(still abnormal) and cardiolyte stress test. I really like my dr so far. Thanks for being concerned.

Something to add for those who decide to goto the ER to get scheduled heart tests expedited...arrive at the ER in an ambulance. They will take your situation more seriously than if you walk in. This is something that an ER nurse passed along to me.
