Need Answers-Has Anyone had This Happen

Hi Everyone,

Many of you know I had Heart Cath done on 8.30.12. Developed a hemotoma - that was resolved. Then the doc tells me that I have mild plaque in my arteries, not flow obstructive.

Background info

The Nuclear Stress test was slightly abnormal at the end and the CT Calcium Angiogram was over 400. RCA,LAD and Left Circumflex involvement so the scan said.

I emailed him today and he reassured me that the plaque was not obstructive. Then Wham! Tonight I had huge pain in chest that radiated and finally resolved after 2 nitros.

I had eaten and was just sitting here on the sofa watching TV. Most of my pain is resting, SOB happens upon resting or exertion. Was kinda clammy and hot. Felt wiped out briefly.

Ideas anyone. They had me convinced I was really ok, but I am not so sure!

Best Regards,

KB

If you are unsure, you need to check it out. Call your doctor, call the help line from your insurance company, or just get your butt to the ER. After I had my heart attack and cath I was released from the hospital several days later. 28 hours after I was released, I had another heart attack. I knew what I was having that second time and got to the ER within 10 minutes.

Trust what your body is telling you.

You listen to your body..DO everything in your power to make someone listen to you. Most of us have been stero-typed..including me who had a perfect heart 6 trips to ER and had cabgx2 2 weeks ago I am not as knowlegible as.alot of people here maybe someone can can start your research in the right direction. I believe you. I know how it feels to not be believed.

Thanks BeeBee for your advise.

Hey Junebug,

Hope you are feeling better at this point in your recovery. How are you doing?

I just have the oddest symptoms and of course always when the docs are not around. I will go to the ER if it happens again-just doubt myself so at times. If the pain is relieved after the nitro, it would seem to me to be heart related.

KB

Hi KB,
To add to the advice you've received here..
Me too when pain relieved by nitro, is heart related, I'm glad it resolved after two nitro. Are you keeping a notebook?

What helped me and also helped my doctors was keeping a notebook with pithy entries listed by day, date and exact time followed by just what you noted here. What I'd add is what did you eat, for example low fat, no fat, high fat, veggie or meat, etc and how much (small, medium, or large amount). That may show patterns both for the doctor as well as yourself, that you are in control of and can change without their permission!
I learned early on I got angina from eating too large a meal and rich foods too. That is me, and discovering that, then I could make changes.

And it I'd think be good data to share with your doctor for their insight. And by all means take your notebook to the Er whenever you go

I too had a high calcium ct score, in fact it showed a large plaque in the proximal LAD and recommended follow up cardiac cath. Weird thing was the cardiac cath was done a few weeks before showing generalized narrowing and small arteries.
It was so scary and the doctors were so dismissive,so mechanistic, like old fashioned car repair men but it was my life not my car I was dealing with.

I'm sorry you too have challenges. I hope you get lots of ongoing support here.
Btw
Have you done cardiac rehab? I ask as that gave me some confidence and I got to talk with a nutritionist too.
Best wishes.

Took your advice Thankful, wrote everything down in my little notebook.

KB

Hi KB, I forgot to mention another benefit to keeping a pithy, log book, my written records have helped me keep my sanity! No more did I have to rely on memory when being grilled by another healthcare provider.
Best wishes in your healing journey.
