Hi,
well, to begin my journey, i have to go back 3 years. I had a "mild" heart attack while sitting in the floor playing checkers with my grandson. I was sent several weeks later for a stress test and echo and it came back fine. so the cardiologist put me on prinivil and zocor and harped on me about my weight....i follwed up in 6 weeks and was losing weight...(i only weighed 155 to begin with and i am 5'4!!!) i told him that i still had spells of chest pain.....he told me to increase my exercise and lose more weight and stay on the meds....
well i did all of that.......the chest pain has continued off and on since then. My PCP monitored my cholesterol and lipids....they were awesome..........so, i just figured the chest pain was something i was going to have to endure???
this past summer......the pains got more frequent when i would be doing "nothing" just regulare housework, shopping, sitting at the computer....so i began to get worried.......my doc did a complete lipid panel again.......it was great......sent me for an ekg, it has a some abnormal q waves but nothing that jumped out at him......sent me for another stress test and echo.........it didn't turn out too good......had some ischemic changes from the previous one and also my heart did not dilate when resting..........so he sent me to a diffent cardiologist who said i needed a heart cath 3 years ago and didn't understand why i had not gotten one? i had one last week. my large arteries are fine......no blockages.....they found that i may have microvascular disease.......never heard of this.
He put me on coreg and nitro tabs to take when i have the pain in my chest.......
my questions are..........do any of you out there know what this is? How do you manage it? What will happen to my lifestyle and habits? what changes to i need to make that i have not made already?
i got back in to follow up with my cardio doc in two weeks to see how the meds are working.
But in the meantime. I would love to hear from anyone who has ever heard of this disease?
Tabitha
