Med Question

I am now on Plavix, Toprol and Lisinipril along with Simvastatin before bed. My question....I suddenly seem NOT to be as anxious and NOT as hyper as I used to be. More calm and relaxed. Can any of those drugs do that? Before the stent and the first week of the new meds I was anxious, worried and I always have been hyper. Worried about everything...job, family, health. And I noticed this week...I am just more calm and relaxed. Not worried about me job. Not stressed...just "handling" things. Is it the medicine or is it the fact that my priorities have finally changed...ME being number 1.

Hi Lynne
Well, that's a nice side effect, isn't it?!

Might be the Toprol? It's a beta blocker which tends to slow down the heart rate. When I was on beta blockers, my docs told me that this drug reportedly has also been used to treat those with paralyzing stage fright (concert pianists, etc). Also if you're drinking any alcohol with beta blockers, drowsiness is a possible side effect of that combination so be careful when drinking.

Not sure of the calming effects of the other two Rx...

Meanwhile, just relax and enjoy 'handling' things and maintaining that new priority: you're #1!

XOXOXO

Hi Lynn, I think the meds may be helping with this chilled out feeling you have and the fact that acceptance is creeping in. I'm glad you feel calmer and less hyper and that you've realised that indeed, you are numero uno!
Hugs,
Lidia xx

Glad you are feeling calm, relaxed and better. Perhaps, you know you are being taken care of and have the correct medicines to care for your condition after the stent. Take care, Joyce

Lynne,
I agree that it probably is the beta blockers, they do slow down the heart rate and seem to have a calming effect. Go with the flow and enjoy it.
If you start feeling hyper again they may just have to up the dose slightly. I have been on it for years with no problems.
Glad you are putting yourself first, we all have to learn to do that.

Lynne,

I will chime in, ditto on the above. A calmer heart is a happier heart...
