ICD problem or not??

0 Recommendations

I have been doing VERY well the last week or so (ICD was implanted Aug. '08) and decided to use my Holiday yesterday to do extensive cleaning at home.
Last night I noticed a little pain/soreness near the leads to my ICD. I had done alot of mopping and vacuuming, which had been quite an effort on my heart prior to the ICD.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I won't have any problem taking it easy tonight! (I'm at work or I'd start NOW! lol)

Thanks for your input!

Dizziness Surgery Pain

Hi -

" I noticed a little pain/soreness near the leads to my ICD."

I have had two ICD implants in the last 3.5 years, and what you are describing to me sounds like irritation from the surgery where the muscles/incision were were inflamed and growing back together. I say this only because it has only been two months for you since the surgery, and it may be tender.

That being said, did you notice your heart racing, or dizziness or any sort of unstable heart rhythms....that would have been lower in your chest cavity and be of concern.

So you feel better, I often get little tingles around the actual device , my doctor doesn't get it, but I know I feel the pacer kicking in once in a while. Just take it easy, okay? I am always anxious to get back to the house cleaning running around etc, and my significant other always has to remind me that I had an invasive procedure, some one worked on a vital organ of my body, take it easy he tells me...so difficult some times....no?

Thank you for sharing...there are a lot of out here, and others may have a different experience to share. Good luck....your ICD is your new friend...ha.

No, no.... 1 year and 2 months!
No, I didn't feel dizzy or alot of racing beats like I USED to feel while trying to mop. That always seemed to be one of the most difficult things I tried to do! This time, it was just sore.
Today - 2 days later - I'm MUCH better!

Thanks for you input!

so sorry I got the year wrong read it too fast...glad you are better, disregard all my ideas...hope you continue to be well.

Sunshine, Thumper (my ICD) and I have been together since July '08. Is the pain up near where your arm connects to your shoulder, where the leads come out? I almost always have pain/ache there, especially when I've done something "heavy" with my left arm. I can feel the leads and Thumper sticks out a bit. Doc says I don't have enuf meat on my bones there. They could go in and reposition it, but there's no guarantee that would help.

Hang in there!

Deb

Thanks, Deb. I would say that is where it hurt. That is a more accurate description. I feel much better today.
I ALWAYS feel better after I get on this site and find out that I'm not alone in the feelings I experience!! This living with a "foreign object" in your chest takes some getting used to! ;)
Thanks again.

Amen, Sunshine! I would think that after over a year I'd be used to this, but I'm not. Think I'm still trying to deny everything. Some days are really great and some are awful!

A month or so ago, the back & side yards needed mowing something terrible (have to use the push mower on them.) Knew if I said something to the hubby about me mowing it, he'd say no. So, one morning when it was cool, after he left for work I got the push mower out and did it. It's self-propelled, thank goodness, cuz our grass is really thick. lol It just felt sooooo good!!!! The first time I ran the vacuum cleaner after everything, I was so excited I called my mom (who lives 350 miles away) to tell her about it! Little things mean a lot now. ;-)

Take care,
Deb
