I miss my Cardiologist in WA. State

0 Recommendations

Has anyone felt that their doctors don't listen to you when you know your body and how it works? I live in TN and I am unable to find a Cardiologist that will take the time to listen. I am not your normal heart patient, and I find Cardologist down in TN do not listen to you or at least 90% maybe I was spoiled in WA State.

Hi Barb,

I think you will find that all of us have or have had Dr.'s that don't listen. You just have to keep trying to find one that will...I personally only have my primary Dr. who listens and I have gone to him for 25yrs plus, I'm on my 2nd cardio. I know it must be hard to have moved and not able to take your Dr. with you---wouldn't that be ideal. Keep in mind you have us and we will listen to you about anything at anytime. Hang in there, sweetie!!!

Dory's response was right on the money - you can come here anytime. Welcome to womenheart.

Too bad you're not in Ohio because I love my medical team, at least my cardio, PCP and gastro docs. The verdict is still out on my neuro, but they are an entirely different breed of doctor :-)

Best advice - call your local hospital and ask for the nurses station. Ask the nurses there for referrals. Ask who they would see if they needed a cardio. They can't tell you who the bad ones are but can say wonderful things about the good ones.

Welcome again and come back often,
Laura

Hi Barb,
I'm having the same issue as you. I just moved from Oklahoma to New Mexico (DH is military) and I developed my heart problems in OK, I had a wonderful Dr who's an expert in HF and now I have a military cardiologist that seems incredibly freaked by my case (b/c of its rarity) and he seems to think I'm completely ignorant when it comes to my condition and what I am capable of, I get the impression that he wants to trat me like a "textbook" case, but my case is far from "textbook". I'm giving him one chance to redeem himself from his first impression and if I still don't feel comfortable I will be changing Dr.s again. I NEVER thought I'd miss anything from OK, but I miss my Dr. VERY much.
Good luck in your search for a competent Dr.!

I have to laugh, because now I do not feel alone, and the comment you made about the text book Dr is they think they know it all, and they don't. The Dr need to use the text book as a guide.

Thank you for the encourgement, and the laugh, you all are just wonderful, and it is so nice not to be alone in this.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone either :D and that I could provide a little laughter into such a stressful situation.

Hi everyone,

I had the wonderful opportunty of going back to
Spokane this past week and yes, I saw my Cardiologist, I was happy, and gave him a hug, and told him what was happening, and I told him I would be back, and you may need to do the same until you can find someone again, I will now be interviewing cardiologist hear and on my terms, if I don't like the answers then off to the next. Good ole military dr gotta love em, and I am so sorry that you are going through the same issue,
