I posted a message about not having a doctor to check on my ICD and follow my cardiomyopathy. As of yesterday, I now have a electrophysiologist in The Woodlands, TX (just a part of Houston). She is really good! Dr. Hina Siddiqui.
A representative of St. Jude tested my device and will be sending me the "bedside assistant", something called a Merlin, that will help monitor my ICD. Between him and the Dr., I got a good report. Of course, they didn't actually check my heart any further than an EKG, but the device is/has been functioning as it should be.
He caused it to VIBRATE in a manner that I haven't experienced and said if it ever does that to call immediately! Felt so weird! He tested the device wirelessly and some of the strong beats I have been feeling, which causes a shortness of breath occured WHILE he was testing. I had been thinking it was asthma. He said it is not - it's my heart! Sometimes just knowing helps!
Just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone has one of the Merlin Home devices I will be receiving!
