Has anyone else had problem with Imdur?

I'm 42 years old and just had a heart attack 1 week ago. Trying to get all my meds worked out which can be frustrating. The imdur gives me a costant headache. Anyone else experience the same? Any advice? Thanks!

Hi
I take Isodur which is the same, and it took me 14 days to get rid of the headache. But it did go away, and I'm glad that I did'nt stop - which I was very close to because of the headache.
So if you can, then try to endure the pain. It will most likely stop, when your body has become used to the medicine.

And if you can, then take the medicine in the evening - then you can sleep some of the headache away.

Hope you will get better soon and wish you all the best.

I take Isosobide Monodinitrate 30 mg ER (time release) at about 9 am. Changed from Imdur to current medication, I had headaches and some were migraines, took about week or so before the headaches tapered off. All nitrates will give you a headache.

Ok. Thanks for your input. I will just try and be patient. Although now I have nicknamed Imdur as the "Little Devil Pill" because the headaches are horrid!!! :-)

Hi TxGirl

How big is your Imdur dosis? Maybe it can be helped, if your dosis is lowered?

If you continue to have the headaches after 2-4 weeks with Imdur, I'd advise you to talk to your cardiologist. Maybe she or he can switch you to something else without this awful side effect. Headaches are completely disabling - I know! I had migraine attacks (no relation to the Isodur) every three weeks last year, and it was terrible. So I can really relate to what you are going through, on top of being - I presume - scared after the HA.

You might try taking Tylenol 30 min to an hour before Imdur. It may help. That is what my doctor told me to do. I don't ever have a headache anymore, so there is hope that it will stop.
One of the doctors I used to work with had his patient use aspercream at the site if the Migraine. She said it really worked. Be sure you are allowed to use aspirin since it is absorbed into your systym through the skim.

Will be thinking of you. Let us know how it goes.

I had a migraine headache for a few days with 30 mg Imdur. I started out with evening dose and gradually moved the time to mid-afternoon. I don't seem to have any problems at this time.

I've been on Imdur since 1998 and had some headaches with it at first. I used Ibruprofen an after a while my headaches went away.

I now take 90mgs of Imdur daily without any side effects that I know of or notice. Give your body time to adjust and ask your doctor what to take for the headaches.

Like everything else, it's a matter of time. Best of luck.

Thanks, everyone! I am happy to report that the headaches are now gone!!! And this medicine has changed my life. Being that I have Small Vessel Heart Disease, this has been a miracle drug for me! Thanks for all your advice and encouragement :-)

Hello-
I am a 32 yo female. My cardiologist prescribed imdur to me for chest pains. I took it last night at 10:15 pm and my headache has not stopped since about 10:20pm (it is now 2:45pm). I have taken tylenol as this is all I can take because I am pregnant. Does anyone have other ideas? I have been attempting to sleep, cold compresses, etc. ANY ADVICE would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Paula
