Feeling better and looking for suggestions on exercise

0 Recommendations

It is now two months since my "event" and am starting to feel better (most of the day). My doctor's suggest that I walk. I do, but I am looking for other suggestions. I want to work on maintaining the 30lbs that I lost while I am in the hospital. While the weight lost is great, I need to firm it up and keep it off.

Suggestions are both welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.

I love aquarobics, and when you have regained some strength, I suggest seeing an exercise physiologist, who can assess what you are capable of, and devise a suitable exercise plan.

Zumba!

I vote for water work....especially if your hospital also has a pool combined w the rehab center!! If you water walk for 20 minutes....that equals about an hour and a half walking. Don't even have to get your hair wet unless you want to (I LOVE to!)

take good care,

I love the water ideas. I am in Florida now and have enjoyed "playing" in the pool daily. I haven't tried the water walk, but given the value that it has, I will give it the 20 minutes starting tomorrow- at least, I will try. To date, I move around with my noodle.

I try to keep active as much as I can. Unfortunately, it is often a challenge. The medications that I take keep my blood pressure low and my energy level even lower.

Thank you for the suggestions. I appreciate them.
Linda

I vote for riding a bike.

Hello!
It has been two and a half months since my event. I started walking the day after getting out of the hospital. I walk 5-6 days a week, 45 minutes and also stretch for another 15 minutes. I am firming up just from that and have lost over 20 pounds. I am going to begin swimming now that the water is warm enough. I started walking with a level 2 incline that increases the cardio workout. I had a stress test to determine my heart rate target. I am in cardio rehab.

Good luck!

What is Zumba?

Good for you. I am not sure that I can start with the 45 minutes, but you are a testiment to the benefits of getting there- 20 lbs. that is great.

I lost about 25 lbs in the hospital. My problem now is firming it. I haven't been this weight in over 30 years (since my daugthter was born).

I was disappointed that my doctor didn't put me on cardio rehab.

I would image that the motorcycle gives you a good feeling when you are out there- are you able to drive it yet?

Continued good luck. thanks for sharing. Linda

Zumba is a Latin dance aerobic workout. The music is the thing that just gets everyone moving. Fun.

Looks like fun, but I am not sure it is for me. You see, it is not about the heart disease, I couldn't keep to music even before. Just the same, thanks for sharing. Linda
