Has anyone here used the new antiplatelet drug called Effient? Plavix is not working well for me so my doctor started me on a new drug I hadn't heard about anyone taking it but it is supposed to have fewer side effects than plavix.

Heard of it but I don't know much about it other than it keeps your blood from clotting and if you need surgery you need to first tell the surgeon your on it. What was the problem with Plavix?
I was having one of the rare side effects. Some how it was causing my stents to restonois really fast I have been having angios every 3-4 monthes to clear the stents. My cardio said it was discussed at a conference he went to a couple of monthes ago.Hopefully the Effient will help.
Wow! I had no idea. I have a medicated stent plus I am on Plavix & aspirin. I hope to avoid problems. Good look with your new medication.
Hi there! I was also put on effient after 3 heart attacks the first week of August. I had 2 stents on 8/1 and then a massive HA on 8/6. When they went back in they found that the first 2 stents had clogged back up. I was then found to be Plavix resistant. Apparently Effient is a very new drug but so far I have had success with it.
Nice to hear it has been successful. Hopefully I will be successful too.
Yes, I'm on it because I'm allergic to asprin. So far so good. But I just had my Heart attack on 10/2/09
I am also now on Effient, and will be on it from one year to life (don't have final word on that yet). Hope all goes well for everyone on Effient now, too.
