0 Recommendations

I just received this notice from the FDA -

Digoxin, USP 0.125 mg, Digoxin, USP 0.25 mg (Caraco brand)

Audience: Pharmacists, cardiology healthcare professionals, consumers

[UPDATED 05/12/2009]
AS Medication Solutions, LLC, a drug repackage company, announced today that all tablets of Caraco brand Digoxin, USP, 0.25 mg, distributed prior to March 31, 2009, which are not expired and are within the expiration date of August, 2011, are being voluntarily recalled to the consumer level.

The tablets are being recalled because they may differ in size and therefore could have more or less of the active ingredient, digoxin. Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Ltd manufactured the recalled tablets.

The recalled product is a scored round biconvex white tablet imprinted with “441”, with an NDC number of 54569-5758-0 (30-count). Consumers with the product that are within expiration should return these products to their pharmacy or place of purchase.

Goodness! Didn't we just go through a recall on Digoxin? I am on Digoxin 0.25, but I don't think it is made by that company. I'll check with my Pharmacist.
Thank's for the heads-up!

You're right Carolyn, there just was a recall on digoxin in March of this year.

This is from: Tom Lamb at DrugInjuryWatch.com
He is an attorney , and he sends out email newsletters on current drug news.

"On May 11, 2009 AS Medication Solutions, LLC -- which is a drug repackage company --announced that it has recalled all tablets of Caraco digoxin tablets because those pills may differ in size and therefore could have more or less of the active ingredient, digoxin.

If this sounds vaguely familiar, it should. On March 31, 2009 Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories issued a recall notice for all of its digoxin tablets due to pill-size problems.

Why did it take AS Medical Solutions until mid-May to issue its recall notice for the Caraco digoxin tablets that it simply repackaged and distributed when Caraco recalled its digoxin pills at the end of March 2009?"..........
