at cardiac rehab Friday. I had to put 0 elevation on the treadmill and slow it down. I was so short of breath. I had also gained 3# in 2 days. Of course the people there wanted me to call the doctor, so I did. He had ordered a BMP and chest xray the week before anyway and i hadn't heard from them so I called. I of course talked to the nurse, told her about the wt. gain, the leg swelling, the shortness of breath.... and she called the doctor. He said, it doesn't sound like CHF but go ahead and try the diuretic anyway. but go to my family doctor for follow up. If it isn't directly cardiac related, I don't think he wants anything to do with whatever I have going on. Do they forget that the body works as a whole, not just it parts?
I know I have other issues that can play into all of this, namely asthma and perimenopause. I was also ovulating this week and wonder how much that played into this. I wish there was a doctor that was well versed in our whole system and how it integrates. I don't know that I have ever found that. Maybe someday.
Anyone else develop CHF after a heart attack? What did you deal with at the beginning? What kind of symptoms did you have. I have taken care of many patients with CHF, but I don't know much about it soon after a heart attack.
BTW, my peak flow dropped some and my BMP was 118 and they said my chest x-ray showed no acute cardiopulmonary problems. But of course the BMP was drawn the week before. Who knows. Taking it day by day. But the breathing problems can be rather annoying. Just walking across the parking lot to church left me very winded. Maybe when I have the stress test it will give us a better idea of what is going on.
Thanks for listening.
Tina
