DEADLINE FRIDAY: apply TODAY for Mayo Clinic Symposium

0 Recommendations

Hello heart sisters,

That little red WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium box to the right of your screen has been up for some time, but I just wanted to jog your memories if you have been thinking of applying to attend this Symposium at Mayo Clinic. Hotel accommodation, all meals and tuition are provided to Symposium participants at no charge - you do have to arrange your own travel to Minnesota.

You must be a woman with heart disease whose last hospitalization was over six months before the Symposium dates, and have permission from your doctors to travel and attend this relatively strenuous Symposium. You must also feel passionate about helping to raise awareness in your community about women and heart disease.

Deadline for applying is JUNE 19th.

This is a life-changing opportunity - as I know all my fellow Mayo grads will agree! Please consider applying: it's part world-class cardiology training and part community activism bootcamp. You will never be the same after this experience. You will learn more about women and heart disease than you've ever thought possible. And you will meet some pretty amazing survivors!

Please click that red box TODAY and find out more!

XOXOXO

* make that "letters of recommendation" -- too excited to type! LOL

Well, they received my application and letters of reference, and I have a conference call next Wednesday -- fingers crossed!!!

Funny, the deadline is June 19 -- exactly 18 months since my surgery......

This would be a great opportunity!

Dana

Well, I filled out my application today. I have to get the letters of recommendation worked out (it's going to be difficult to get one from my cardiologist...but that's another story)......

We'll see what happens next!!

" just came back from the 2009 Advocacy Institute where I, along with 46 other heart patients & mostly WomenHeart Champions, stormed capitol hill, lobbying for the HEART Act For Women.!"

You did??!!!! That's just fantastic!!! Thank you on behalf of women all over the US!!

Kudos!!! Jaynie

I could not agree more with Kennarina! This is a life changing opportunity for those of you with heart disease. It's a way to learn more for yourself and an opportunity to help others in your situation. It gives you purpose in your life when you think that you no longer have a purpose.

I just came back from the 2009 Advocacy Institute where I, along with 46 other heart patients & mostly WomenHeart Champions, stormed capitol hill, lobbying for the HEART Act For Women. When you are in a room with women of similar circumstances - there is no way you would have known from outward appearances - that these women were ill. The energy level and noise level is tremendous and the rooms were filled with joy at the opportunities we've been presented with by attending the Science & Leadership Symposium - no matter what year!

My whole life has taken a new direction, and my husband is so very proud of the work that I now do. I have even started a brand new support network in my area and am looking forward to meeting women in my own community to serve and help.

So, if you have any inclination toward attending the Symposium, please, right now, start the application process. You'll never regret it.
