Chest Pain and No Diagnosis

0 Recommendations

I am 38 and I have been feeling painful chest pains on my left side for approx two months.

The pain is located on my upper left along my breast area. The pain sensation goes from squeezing to aching. The pain also moves to my upper back.

I have had a echo on my heart, sono on my leg, sono on my car, ekg, chest xray, stress test, blood test and all normal (thank god).

My current Doctor seems to feel it is a pinch nerve and has sent me to Physical Therapy. Also, he is scheduling and MRI.

What could this pain be? I am so frustrated and nervous. Everyone tells me to relax and not to think about it, however the pain is so intense, I can't avoid not thinking about it.

Can anyone offer some advice? My Doctors are trying, however, everything takes so long and I wait in pain.

Hi JuNu

So sorry to hear about your chestpain - you must be worried sick, not knowing what it is. If you suspect the pain has to do with your heart, then you could ask your doctor for nitroglycerin. If it takes your pain away instantly, there are two options: something with heart (spasms for example - look up Prinzmetal variant angina) or some kind of reflux. If you take the nitro and it doesn't ease your pain, most likely you don't have to worry that it is your heart. And taking the nitro doesn't do you any harm, as far as I know.

Hope you get answers soon.
Best wishes.

Prinzmetal or Microvascular Disease can cause the same heart symptoms as any other heart disease and are very hard to diagnose. Your symptoms certainly sound like your heart. Look up those diseases on the internet and in the search above on this site and good luck in finding out if it is your heart or not. So many ladies here have great information. Joyce

Thank you so much for the information. I metioned to my doctor about the possibility of it being Microvascular and he said maybe and that was it.

It has been so frustrating dealing with Doctors because once a test comes back normal they become satisfied with it and do no more.

I will look into nitroglycerin.

I am so scared. This pain has taken my life away.

Thank you.

Dear Junu,

I too have Microvascular Disease/ coronary artery spasms and have had them for many years. I have been to several cardios. through the years and I have finally found one who I really trust. He did a cardiac cath. on me and it was clear. He then said it had to be coronary artery spasms, that just did not show up, at the time of the cath. He now has me on Diltiazem ER 240 mg, Imdur 60 mg, Ranexa 500 mg and 1 baby aspirin every morning, when I get up. So far the combination is working well.
