i definitely had ptsd after the ordeal

Welcome,
I coded twice as well, and I did not want to know how long I was gone but it was long enough for them to give me memory test every so many hours for the first two days I was in the hospital. They felt that I had been oxygen deprived for quite some time because they did all the work on me after I was gone. I was very lucky that I suffered no damage.

You probably suffered some hypoxic (not enough oxygen) brain injury. Working with a speech therapist would be helpful for you. They work with both cognition and talking and can help you with strategies to work with the limitations you have. You should be able to get an order from your doctor. Primary care would probably be more comfortable with that than cardiology.
