i had stress test with dye the day before the ct scan.some has thought to much to soon.the world my never no.one says one thing .one stay something else.because the just don't know.6days later my skin is still itching and burning.

I too had a rash and itchiness after they implanted my ICD. Really don't know if it was the actual dye or the generic pain reliever they prescribed after the surgery. I told them I could not take codeine and they gave me something exactly like codeine anyway. I stopped taking it went to tylenol and the rash subsided.

I also had a bad reaction when I took the chemical stress test. After it was over I had a major asthma attack and they had to keep me until it subsided. They sent me home with an inhaler.

i walked away fine the evening it started, itching rash, next day it was still spreading, next day the rash was turning to a bad sun burn look ,next day blisters and peeling skin. more the half of my body.3 dr visits before hospital stay.

I have had contrast dye it seems with everything and no reaction. But, on a Chest CT scan in 2007, I got off the table and was walking down a hallway to the dressing room and I literally could not breathe. I grabbed a man in a brown leather jacket as I felt like I was going down. Thank God this man was a doctor (radiologist) as he walked me in the dressing room and had me lay down and he came back in with an inhaler. One spray of that and I could breathe again. From now on I do tell everyone about that reaction.

Hi,
I am allergic to the IV dye. I get very sick to my stomach. So I always tell them and they then use a special dye.

are you allergic to shellfish? some contrast dyes have iodines something found in things like shrimp, crab and lobster.

I have never had an allergy to contrast dye but because I have had severe reactions to shellfish I always get premedicated prior to getting any contrast with benadryl and solumedrol IV. this includes cardiac caths.
