Even though I've dealt with heart disease for 30 years, I am not up on all the abbreviations for the various and sundry types of heart disease and proceedure. Can someone give me a list of abbreviations and the appropriate definition? Reading the postings would be a lot more meaningful for me and others, I would believe.

I'm appalled at the problems with healthcare providers and patients. Being in Alaska, we're used to hearing up here that you need to go "Outside" or "Down Below to the Lower 48" to get good medical care - for me, however, I've gotten the best care I could hope for (long time getting a diagnosis, though) and don't feel the need to go "Outside" at all.

Hi again Sharen! Lovely to see your smiling face here!

Laura posted this very helpful list of common heart-related acronyms a while back - I printed it off and still use it frequently:

Glad you are getting good care 'up north'. I too am dismayed reading stories of collection agencies and horrific hospital bills from my American heart sisters.
XOXOXO

It's sort of a "kick-em while their down" mentality, isn't it? It's horrific and so very wrong.

I'm sorry - the site you sent to me isn't coming up so I can see the acronyms. Bummer Deal!

Hi--I saw your post and tried to get to the site too and finally did it by pasting original address into the search box on top of page. I copied the page when I got there and hope this address will get you there too. I've been reading this site for a year and still wonder what some of the initials mean-now I printed the list out and can use it for a cheat-sheet.

Thanks Becky!!! Now I can see it too!!

XOXOXO

Hey Becky - thank you so much. I did what you said and it worked so I could print it out and save it. This will help. I hate feeling like a dummy, but with the size of the list I guess I shouldn't have felt that way. Wow - as I tell my audiences, heart disease covers so many classifications and conditions that you could never keep up with it.
