A little help with heart & soul healing

Ladies,

Because heart health challenges can create monumental, prolongued suffering at times, I long ago found my way to the voices that I could access 24/7. What we live with nonstop is not truly graspable by people around us unless they have been there too. So I learned to carry on a running dialogue with my own heart, higher power or spend some time with my beloved books and audiotapes....It is immensely healing, even for a few minutes, to really 'listen' with my heart, which takes me out of my whining head and eases me into a much calmer, broader outlook. Maybe these 2 remarkable women can offer you a different outlook at what you are going through......even if for a few moments.

If you have ipod or MP3 player, free podcasts are available from many disciplines and spiritual speakers. I think free ipods should be part of the cardiac patients health package because they are wonderful for helping one rise and attempt chores or new tasks, walk a little longer than normal. It's that 'companion' keeping you company and getting you away from the Whiner Head for a while.

"What has to take place:: A few moments with Caroline Myss. Visionary author of many books the guide the reader deeply into soul work. She is especially good with suffering and healing and what we may be doing that blocks our progress. A unique voice in the world. 2 very short youtube segments...The books and audiobooks are superb. WHY PEOPLE DON'T HEAL.

Pema Chodron, Bhuddist nun and abbess, author of many books and audiobooks. Pema goes into the darkest of human experience in a very practical, eyes wide open way. Very approachable and devoted to helping people learn how to work Zen disciplines of mind calming into everyday life. I have spent a lot of time with Pema in book and audio form. She gets me through the more fearful heart wierdness 'health bombs' (smile). Relentlessly honest, Pema turns away from nothing life throws at us. NO TIME TO LOSE

Oh, I love Pema Chodron. I have her books Start Where You Are, and When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times. Your post is my cue to get them off the shelf and re-read them!

Thanks for the great advice! I too am an avid reader and carry my ipod everywhere, I especially like to listen while driving (which hasn't been quite as much lately!) I will certainly check out these books!

This is great!! And I will check out those books. Finding time to listen to my "soul" is something that helps me to "relax" and deal with stress. My son had my get an IPod which is great at cardiac rehab.

Yes, Yes! Mrs. Mermaid,

Timing could not be better--

Hi Jaynie,

Awesome links to the speaker, healing topic. I plan to pass it on. She so nailed so many things I have been "thinking" ??? "feeling" ??? about.

Seems the more into the relationship I get with my heart, that my mind becomes less and less where I am turning for the answers. The heart is leading, next is the soul....getting closer I guess.

Thanks.

Hi Jaynie

Thanks , these are wonderful speakers, full of wisdom and compassion . That Pema lady is so down to earth and honest. I find it a constant struggle to be true to my heart .
I actually met Gangaji about 2 weeks ago in London. It was lovely . She was here on a tour. She said I needed to be vigilant and talked about just being love and self love.

I will watch more of that Pema lady later.
Tomorrow I see my Dr and will have to put on my emotional armer and try to be cool calm collected. Gonna ask him for angio and talk about hormones.

cheers
Hana

I am reading a book by Gangaji called The Diamond in your Pocket. It is so good I wanted to share a few paragraphs. She does mention she is not really talking about physical danger . If a bus is coming you move out of the way. Here is what she says about pain and suffering.

"If you have had the experience of surrendering in the moment that pain arises, of actually opening your mind to pain ,whether it is physical, emotional, personal, or worldly, then you have discovered a secret wisdom. In this discovery you are no longer preoccupied with personal pain, and then there is one less whining , screaming, crying, "what about me" What a relif! This "one less" is huge, because when the story of personal pain no longer has prominence, you can experience the pain you had no idea exsisted- your neighbours pain, your parents and childrens pain, the pain of the universe- and in that you are not making war with what is painful, or hiding from potential future pain. You are living a life open to meet what is here. Then pain as any experience, is to be bowed to as none other than truth itself.

When you meet suffering head on ,you make the exquisite, paradoxical discovery that suffering holds the very jewel that was sought in the attempt to escape it . Whether the particular suffering is individual, national,or planetory ,that jewel is here now.....
Meeting suffering has to do with the willingness to absolutely be still, to tell the truth regardless of the intensity of the experience. In the core of suffering is revealed the jewel of what is real , what is true, who you are.

Recognize any movement of your mind toward avoidance. Let those thoughts drop away and meet the suffering directly.
In this moment , can you find a sufferer? Are you aware of a discrete entity, or are you perhaps aware of a vast empty space filled with intelligence that is consciousness itself? What is the boundary between who you are and this space? Where is suffering now? Can you see that this moment of true meeting is not seperate from every moment in your life?
