All the sites tell how this cancer is usually well established when it's found. well duh!
If the medical community are just doing PAP smears which don't show it, and external tummy exams which are useless unless the cancer is the size of a grapefruit!
But wait there's always the painful biopsy from inside the uterus or the equally painful D and C. Oh and I almost forgot, of course there's the woman herself, her "feeling" of something's not right but of course we know the doctors will tell her to find a hobby, it's just menopause or depression!
I found the following uterine cancer test running last to all of the above when it should be done routinely INSTEAD of a Pap in my opinion. What do you know about this ladies? Anyone ever had one?
Transvaginal ultrasound. This is a relatively simple and painless procedure where the wand of the ultrasound machine is placed into the vagina and pointed towards the uterus. The ultrasound waves provide a picture of the uterus so the doctor can see if there is a tumor or cyst on the wall of the uterus. The pictures also can tell the doctor if the wall of the uterus appears too thick — if so, you may need a biopsy.
According to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the initial workup for early uterine cancer should include a complete history and physical, chest X-ray, and complete blood work. An endometrial biopsy can usually establish the diagnosis. Your physician can use many tests to identify the tumor, check to see if it has spread, and to determine how best to treat it.
Which tests are right for you will depend on such factors as your general health condition and your age, so be sure to discuss your testing options with your doctor. Remember, it's always better to know what's going on — even it seems scary at first — so you can act quickly.
