Clothing to hide Chest Port

0 Recommendations

My beautiful wife is having a chest port put in next week and she is a yoga instructor. I wanted to know if there was specific clothing made to hide the port or what others have done to hide it from view. Yoga clothing can be very revealing and she faces not being able to teach yoga if the port shows too much.

Your suggestions and prayers are welcome.
Thanks,
Loving Husband

I may have to face getting one of those myself; I don't see why she should worry about covering it. Most of the time they are covered with a bandage and I have seen that it doesn't show that much. It's just a disc under the skin. If she gets fired from her job because of the port; what kind of employment or job does she have? That would not make any sense. Being a survivor means being proud that you can be so strong and beat that disease. Face it head on and be proud of who you are.
I am facing another situation and that is my nephostomy bag (pee bag for my right kidney), so I decorated it with a beautiful scarf for every outfit I decide to wear; even it happens to be a dress; I can cover it up tastefully. I do wish you and your wife all the very best for a long, long, remission and possible cure.

I had one installed 2 months ago and after the first week of the healing process I never worried about it again. Mine is on my left side and it looks like a quarter size bump with a small line under the skin going to the artery. I only deal with it when I have to have my chemo treatment and once it is done, it's done. I wear low cut tops and a sports bra and it works great...

As for the work issue I would not worry the PR for letting her go for fighting cancer would be devestating.

Thank you for your kind support. Please keep my wife in your prayers. She is a wonderful woman and I an the luckiest man in the world to be her husband.
Mike

May you both live a long and happy life. Remember this is only a bump in your lives and it will only make you two stronger in your relationship.
