what about trientine?

0 Recommendations

hi again people!
this is how my story goes further...

i started treatment with artamin (d-penicillamin) on the 1st of may. since then my lab results have shown a great improvement, thank god! everything's was going perfectly fine since these last couple of weeks when severe body itching appeared. my palms and feet itch the most and my dermatologist said that it must be a drug reaction. my wd doctor suggested upfront that i should switch to trientine but i am a bit confused...

what if i this itching stops or it gets more tolerable? can i still stick to my artamin? i'm afraid that trientine won't do the same job as the artamin did, because it really did a good job for me... has anyone had some experience with trientine?

and also, does anyone know how much it costs? i get the artamin from vienna cos we don't have it here in macedonia, and it is 25euros for a pack with 50pills (250mg). i have heard that trientine is much more expensive...

besides, i read that doctors prescribe trientine only for those intolerant of penicillamine, when it is no longer possible to use it because of intolerable or life endangering side effects. could this itching be life endangering? i think not and it deffinitely can be tolerant... so i'd rather go on with this artamin treatment if my doc says it's possible, but please tell me your opinion guys, i'm a bit worried...
