My (20 year old) son "missed" a day and a half of his anti-rejection meds (I don't know how , but it happened - can't change it now). He gets labs every 2 weeks. The labs from a couple weeks ago were bad. No prograf was detected in his blood at all - they upped his prograf levels and said to "see what happens." His labs from last Thursday were awful. His prograf showed up, but very low. Also, his AP, AST, and ALT are through the roof. Can anybody relate to this - what should we expect? Is he in liver failure/rejection? What is really scarry is that we live in Wisconsin and he went on a trip to Alaska - he isn't even remotly close to his specialists. My daughter went to see the specialist last Thursday - they were hopeful that her copper levels would be low enough to get her on zinc. The last 24 hr urine showed her levels at 500. Yesterday they finally had the results and they are 753. I am totally confused about that. I realize the syprine (she is on 2250 mg a day) pulls out the copper in huge amounts and as the stored copper comes out - the levels are high, but she went from over a thousand, to 800, to 500 and now it went up. What is that from? Of coarse I have a ton of phone calls in to just about every doctor we have had and nobody has called me back. Is it just a surge of copper that came out now? I don't have an explanation - has anybody experienced this that can shed some light on it for me? I was doing well with both the kids, but this week has proven to be a huge set back for both of them. Any advice would be appreciated.
