Does anyone know where to find zinc acetate. I can only find the gluconate and Galzin is to expensive. I am worried the increased dosage of zinc will hurt the stomach.

Years ago, my doctor, Michael Schilsky (Wilson Disease expert), told me that "zinc is zinc". Over the counter zinc is ok-- and it does not need to be zinc acetate. Just make sure the amount listed on the bottle is "elemental zinc". Zinc picolinate is the most bioavailable of the zinc on the market, meaning it's the one that the body uses most efficiently. But people with wd also do well for many many years on zinc citrate, zinc gluconate, etc.
Find one that's tolerable to the stomach and keep checking the copper levels in the blood and urine.

I agree with jeanne4. I was also on zinc like you mentioned. i too was not able to afford it. So I was put on Zinc sulphate in London (UK). after 10 year my stomch did not like it and I started having stomach pains every time I took it. So since Feb last I have switched to Zinc Gluconate It has worked in same manner as Sulfate.. Only thing you have to watch is elemental Zinc which should be 50mg per tab or cap. Besides this you should also watch for contents which are not suitable for the patient. I got my caps from Swanson at sale price of $1.99 per 100 caps. You may be able get even cheaper than this if you search the web. Hope you will it help full. Good luck
