WD Husband with Depression

0 Recommendations

Hi. I'm very new here. Just introduced myself on the other board yesterday. My husband is 42 yrs old. Diagnosed with WD since he was about 14 I believe. He's always struggled with "peaks & valleys" for our entire marriage, but recently it's been worse. We go to a good church and have a very good support system in place, but I often wonder if there is something he should take additionally, and if he should be taking it. I am wondering if this topic of "depression" here on this site is a main topic because it is common with WD? He also struggles with anger & aggression, but he's not at all violent. Perhaps being a Christian man keeps him from going that far, I don't know. I'd love to hear from those with deal with this or have a spouse or family member they care for with WD who struggles with depression.

Thanks for your help.

Wilson disease Depression Liver transplant

You are right. I gotta get him to the doctor... but even more so, talk about being depressed. He's the type of guy who denies it. Thinks he can handle everything and take care of things on his own. He's FINALLY admitting that there is a problem. Finally! He's going to the doc in about 2 wks. I think just admitting it is the first step to a cure. Thanks for your support. Glad to hear your transplant went so well!

Take care!

WYN,

I'm not married or anything but have suffered from Wilson's Disease, the associated time in hospital and have had a liver transplant. I would like to note that, despite not being a devout Christian, I have suffered from depression for more than five years. My girlfriend of the time (2004) forced me to see my doctor and he prescribed anti-depressant (SSRI).

If you can get your husband to visit a doctor, I think you may get some kind of result.
