Trying to find a fundraising event...

The guy that I am dating has been diagnosed with Wilson's Disease, and so has his younger brother. We are very interested in finding any run/walk/marathon events that help support WD. However, I have been unlucky with finding any results. We live in Georgia, so if anyone knows where we can sign up for something that would be GREAT. I admire the patience and dedication it takes someone to have to live with Wilson's Disease, so if there is a way that I can help, I would love to. Thank you.

hey i have wd also. i am 48 and run some marathons.
i hope to raise funds for wd later in the year but as u said there is really no local support groups and fundraising for marathons is not really apparent yet.
but have faith.
i have been on syprine for 8 months and slowly i am
winning the battles. my doctor did not want me to really run when i got diagnosed but i was able to very carefully run 3 marathons and 3 half marathons and an ultra marathon 40 miles. surrendering to this disease was and is not an option.
so be inspired my dear friend--
faith is now
hope is coming
and have courage
i am trying to get the disney marathon to let me set up a booth at their expo to raise awareness. and also i will be putting a dedication on my back at each event i participate in.
the motto will read as follows:
SAVE A PRECIOUS LIFE
FIND A CURE
WILSON DISEASE .ORG
hope this helps

We are about to launch an online fundraising event. To read about it and participate go to www.firstgiving.com/wda. There is a Walk being planned in Wisconsin to take place later this summer. If you would like to plan one in your area, please contact the WDA office at wda@sssnet.com or 888-264-1450. We are happy to assist you in this effort.
